tequila help...

Post by playaguy »

To any and all tequila lovers out there - Looking for markets on StJ that might stock good brands - thinking reposados or anejos - and maybe an idea on prices. Seems like a few years ago we picked some up on STT, but I'm not sure that will work this trip...Thanks!

Try Starfish Gourmet, in the marketplace building. Not a huge selection, but you should be able to find something.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

"My earlier post didn't go through.... (?)" - Wrong forum Rick! That was elswhere.

Starfish had Herradura and Patron in November. I saw blanco, reposada and anejo. If you love sprits, check out the Arundel/Callwood Rum Distillery at Cane Garden Bay Tortola. Very old school with a fuselly sharp White and a molasses laced 2 year old with some sea air notes.

Cheers, RickG

I think the selection was pretty good at the liquor store in the airport, if you wanted to get it there. They have good prices too.

I learn something from this forum all the time, you say there is a Rum Distillery at Cane Garden Bay I never knew. I must go when I get on island in June.
I may have to have Gromit and that 'bad kitty' party boat just drop me off........:)

It's a quick visit and very old school.

Thanks for the help! Sounds like Starfish might be it. Thanks for the reminder about the airport too, but I'm not sure that store will still be open by the time we land (10:15)...

Not sure of your other brands but they had Patron at the Airport and there price was about $20 less than at home. We bought Cuervo and they gave Margarita mix with it!. Came in VERY handy last month!

AH Rise now has a liquor store in the Ferry Terminal at Red Hook. They are selling at the same price as down town St Thomas and will give a 15% discount on four bottles or more. It looks like they have a pretty good selection.

We were hooked on the cabo wabo (preferred over Patron) for awhile but our new favorite is Don Julio reposado (sp?). Excellent tequila! Can't beat a great marguerita!! Cheers, Ali~
