Become a better photographer by next week

Post by fbarnako »

I'm working on becoming a better photographer. My resolution for this year is to take a picture a day. They say the best way to improve your skills is to take more pictures

So, I thought what a great thrill it would be to go shooting pictures with my neighbor Steve Simonsen, the internationally known world-class Caribbean photographer.

So, here's the idea. Steve will take us on a four-hour 'photo safari.' Starting at dawn on Feb. 18th, we'll visit three sites on the island and take photos that will go well beyond snapshots. Steve will be at our side offering tips on composition, point of view, lighting, exposure time, flash outdoors, and more.

The goal is to get 10 of us. The cost will be an unbelievable bargain ... $45 a person. Learning by doing is the best way to improve skills, I think, and this is a great opportunity.

Send me an e-mail now if you're interested. The address is frank@newsofstjohn.com. Join us!

About Steve Simonsen:

He is internationally known for his colorful images of the Caribbean. His latest book is "Living Art." He's done assignments for National Geographic Traveler, Caribbean Travel and Life, and Islands magazines. He's even done work for Kodak! Here's a link to his online galleries.: http://www.stevesimonsen.com/galleries/gallerymain.html

WOW. Awesome opportunity! Wish I were going to be there!

If you put together another trip in May...please post for all the Forumites that are heading south at that time!

Frank, what a great opportunity, and Steve is such an outstanding photographer. If there was anyway to get out of this snow and ice I would be there in a minute. I hope others can attend.

I wonder if he would consider doing this a few times a year, with scheduled dates so that students could book their trip with this in mind...I would think with enough notice it would be booked!

And to think I had his number and didn't use it! I hope he does this again or would be willing to arrange a date with others who are interested.

Looking forward to seeing the results of your day!

Damn...I'm 3 days too late - we arrive on the 21st.

If you can't get anyone for the 18th and you want to push it off for a week, I'm pretty sure that you can count on 2 people for the 24,25, or 26th.
