We were on the fence about whether or not we had time to get passports for our March trip. The Gov't website listed the waiting time as 3 weeks (as of 1/24). We weren't leaving for 7 weeks at that point, so we decided to go ahead and get them.
Mr. H went down to our local post office on Saturday, January 24, and applied for his passport. On Monday, February 2, his birth certificate was returned to him. Yesterday, his passport arrived Total processing time was 10 days, including weekends.
The remora and I went to a different post office last Saturday (1/31). We'll see if those arrive as quickly.

Just realized a few weeks ago that both of our passports expired and we're on a 3/8 cruise! So, filled out the apps, sent in the old passports, marriage certificate(DW's name change...), the extra $60 "super duper fast fee"; Lo and behold, got new passports delivered express mail (I didn't even pay for that!) in 6 days!
The passport cards and the old documents got back 2 or 3 days later. I am impressed!
