Any shaking?
Any shaking?
I think volcanos are really cool and I am keeping my kids up on this Redoubt thing that is going on in Alaska. So I was looking at the recent earthquake maps and it looks like a bunch of small quakes in Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico in last day or so...
Anyone feel anything?
I know it happens from time to time, but seemed like a little more than normal. Maybe too small though.

"Sponges grow in the ocean...I wonder how much deeper it would be if that didn't happen."
Nothing major since Jan 13th when we did feel the 3.5 (we are on a major trench)
We have had 19 in the last week in the Virgin Islands region, all small 3.0 or under, and that is about "normal" for this region.
If you want to track them here is a great site.... http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/rec ... es_all.php

Because of our close proximity to the Puerto Rico Trench, the deepest part of the Atlantic Ocean!, we experience a generous amount of earthquake activity daily - most are small tremors and not felt, occasionally one over 4.0 shakes the island ,in Oct. last year a 6.0 was recorded. It is rarely perceived as a serious danger but many homeowners here do get an earthquake insurance provision.
My www.wunderground.com [zip code 00801] does show the daily tremors over 2.5 from the USGS site - you might try watching that for awhile with the children as a learning experience on general earthquake frequency.
