Does it annoy you when others get a better deal?
Last year we stayed in the L'Esprit de la Vie villa in Point Rendezvous. The rent in off-season was $5040 (6 people). For some reason I just decided to see if it went up this year - and now they only charge $3500! I guess I should feel good for the people who're staying there this summer, but I can't help feeling a little like we were overcharged. Looking at other villas we considered last year, none of them have come down...most have increased slightly.
Frankly, I think L'Esprit is better valued at $3500 than $5040. I guess I live and learn...the hard way.

We are renting l'Esprit in march for $4400. I have a feeling that many villa owners
are happy to fill the calendar, even at a reduced rate. Not any different than all the deals
to be found in retail shops stateside.
What bugs me is that a flight to STT from the Midwest is $700+!!!! I'm happy for others
who grab deals at less than half what we pay, but.....

It doesn't bug me at all. Last year I was paying almost $4 a gallon for gas and now I pay less than $2. While some things have gone up, many have come down in order to make some money in this economy.
It is the same as buying a car. If you bought a car last year you probably paid more than someone who is buying one now (not taking into consideration depreciation, etc) My husband is in the automotive business (not sales thank goodness) and he said that the sales guys are selling cars for almost no profit, just to make the sale.
In most cases the person on the plane next to you paid less and when staying in a hotel, you may have paid much less than the person in the next room.
No customers? Drop the price

Hey INfamily don't know how far ya are from Detroit but ya should get half that price or better right now. We use DTW alot cause of the deals. Lots of good deals out there, think it will even get better as the year goes on. That much difference in price would get my goat a little. I would guess they want to fillerup in this economy.

It doesn't both me. Get the best deal you can at the time and there is nothing you can do about changes in price. Some one asked on the forum a few weeks ago about calling the company and asking for the discounted rate. Not something I would do but someone might. Remember, most of us go to the islands to relax and not have any worries. My thought is to be in the island spirit and not worry about something you can't change.
