Ice - here in Philly. It sleeted all day, today. My entire car is covered in a thick, clear coating of ice. Unfortunately, so are the road and sidewalks.
Mary Beth, your photo of your street reminds me so much of my street. The front porch next to the one in your photo could be mine - slate roof, front steps, columns and all. Do you live in a twin?
Light a fire and make cocoa for the kids - winter is finally here!
On the downside, 3 of my colleagues from work are stuck in 3 different cities across the US after client meetings- trying to get back to their homes in the Northeast. They're now all on their second night in a hotel due to cancelled flights. Sucks to be them!

We had snow here a few years ago on Christmas Eve and day, and it was beautiful. Granted it wasn't what you guys normally get, but it was pretty (and so quiet).
PA Girl - you laugh. When we were kids, the first time we went to the beach, my little brother got in the sand and started jumping around calling it snow. He had never seen snow and had never been to the beach. It was hilarious.

p.s. I love that picture you posted Mary Beth. It looks like something out of a calendar.

Well, not less than 15 minutes after posting : Actually, I think it's rather pretty- not in the ahhhhh-blue-green-sea way St. John is pretty, but the snow here certainly makes for a cozy-drink-cocoa-eat-popcorn type of day - which I also love and find charming - I LOST POWER IN MY HOME FOR THE NEXT 13 HOURS! Hence, there was NO POPCORN & COCOA! But I did have a tree fall from the weight of the ice and take out the rail of my deck!
Anyway, power is back on - so I am able to drink my hot coffee & look out and see a beautiful glistening sight - like everything is made of glass!
As lovely as it is, it's even more lovely to look at my posts with my Ticker-Factory countdown below here and see how little time I have left until I escape this frozen wasteland for PARADISE

wow Lisa, that stinks. we were without heat for a day last week and it was brutually cold! hope you made it through ok.
We are off to Key West today. Heading out of AC which at this time shows all flights leaving as scheduled, thankfully. Just got off the phone with a friend who is leaving out of Newark to Orlando and his flight was cancelled. He and his friend are now DRIVING to the Daytona 500! Boy he's not a happy camper right now! This storm is causing a lot of havoc!
Oh to be on St. John.......

I also think you live in a lovely area. Must be nice to walk down the sidewalk in the snow or shine there. We just got a bit of snow alot of rain and now have a great deal of ice in costal southern RI. Looking forward to going where its warm.
