Interesting BVI Sailing Story
I also follow the BVI Travel Talk On Line forum. A very interesting story has been playing out over the last few weeks. Two BVI chater boat owners/captains went on a humnanitarian mission over Christmas to Haiti to deliver supplies sponsored by Michael Beans (a well known BVI personality) and the Tortola Rotary Club. On the trip back both ran into serious engine issues and a very bad storm.Long Story short, no motors shredded sails. They managed to limp back to Haiti and were there until just late last week when they were finally able to cobble togther engine and sail repairs. Capt Rick is expected to make Tortola tommorrow. The other Captain was heading for Jamacia I think because his boat needed more extensive repair
What I found particuallry inspiring was the generosity of people of this stunningly poor small island, Ils De Vache, who came to their aid and shared with them what little they had for themselves.
Like I said its worth a read.
