Tony Bourdain's No Reservations visits DC

Post by RickG »

Tonight's episode features a segment with Jose Andres. THAT was my birthday dinner last week at Mini Bar!

Check out my commentary on my treat from Sweet Christine in the Food Porn thread.

By the way, if you saw the show, George Pelecanos captures DC perfectly in his writing. The radio stations that the protagonists listen to as they drive around town are perfectly recalled down to the DJs and the songs they played as well as the commercials.

Ben's Chili Bowl half-smokes are great if you can't get Nu-Ways from Macon. Maine Avenue Fish Market, El Pollo Rico (Crisp & Juicy is better!).

The home town is showing pretty well this week. See ya at the inauguration.

Cheers, RickG

We'll hook you up the next time you're in town. You need to make the reservation 30 days ahead.

I watched the show last night.

We used to spend a lot of time in the area and it took us back.

I went to watch this episode on my dvr last night and realized that I had already seen it--it was available on demand about a month ago. At the time I thought it must have been an episode from last year that I missed. No wonder your minibar meal sounded so familiar to me, Rick!

It was a good episode. I loved the part in the beginning when the plane goes overhead and he says "Look! A plane full of pundits!" Ha ha.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
