On Island in 2+ weeks and looking....

Post by bubblybrenda »

I feel a bit like the odd-woman out here because I am a single 40-something female camping alone at Cinnamon Bay from Feb. 8-21. (I haven't come across any other campers on this forum... yet). I have a day trip booked with Capt. Phil much later in my stay (Feb. 18) (thanks to the forumites who recommended him) but before the end of my trip I would love to have the opportunity to meet up with other forumites to do a sail/boat ride/ferry trip to another Island or hang out on a beach for the day or dinner/drinks on an evening. If you're on Island from Feb. 8-21 and want to hang out with a westcoast Cdn girl for the day, drop me a line. Typically, I am a loner so have no problem being on Island all alone for 2 weeks but I'm also a "chatty Cathy" and would welcome the chance to hook up with other forumites while the opportunity presents itself.

Brenda-
I will not be on island during your time frame to hang out, but I'm a single 30 something that loves to camp at Cinnamon. The winter months are the best ones for it and 2 weeks is perfect! I'm jealous of your Winter Escape! Have fun and please post a Trip Report when you get back. There are not enough camping TRs on the forum!

Tip - Attend the Beach Bar Forum Gathering on Sundays at 5pm and you will meet folks from the forum who might be up for activities!

Happy Travels!

Brenda, we will be at the Beach Bar forum gathering on February 8 around 5 p.m. We usually stand on the beach near the tree. Hopefully, others will chime in for this gathering so we'll know how many will be there. It's always a lot of fun.

Look forward to meeting you!

we will be at the BB on 2/8 as well. Our visit is 2/7 - 2/17 staying on the Coral Bay side. We are planning on doing the BVI's aboard Bad Kitty at some point. Maybe we can hook up at the BB gathering, and all work something out.

Thanks for jumping in with your replies and the tip about the Beach Bar. Question? 5:00 until ?? I'm curious if everyone hangs out there for 2 hours or so or do you make an evening of it?

I will be on the 3:00 out of Red Hook so will be in a mad dash to get to Cinnamon Bay and get set up before dark which is priority #1 for me on Feb 8. (It's a very long trip for me - arrive 19 hours after departure)!

If I don't meet up with you on the 8th, I'll for sure be there on the 15th.

I've read so much about the Beach Bar on this site and didn't so much as walk in the place when I was there in April. Unfortunately, I didn't discover this forum until many months after that trip. Better late than never.

Boston Mike is doing a fizzle me dizzle spin. Not walk into the Beach Bar while down there in April. Can we hold her accountable for her actions?

Welcome Brenda! Have a good time in February.

Brenda- Both times I've done the Beach Bar gathering, folks have departed after 2-3 hours and gone their seperate ways for dinner, but I'm sure that's not alwasys the case. Lord knows, after that type of Travel Day and setting up camp, I would never have the energy to head back into town!

Do you have a site that you prefer to stay in at Cinnamon? You should be able to make it by dark if you hurry! Thank goodness for those carts to haul the crap around in. Good luck!

BRENDA!-
You should definately see if Inner Visions is playing at Sputniks while you're on island.
I've never had the oppurtunity of seeing them "Live", but their music will give you yet another wonderful reason to love STJ.
