Day 3 December 27th Double Header Fishing Trip

Post by XOXO »

Day 3 December 27th Double Header Fishing Trip

My crew stayed in the villa this morning. I went for a walk and I got whistled at. There were 4 young guys in a boat. I heard them whistle and looked around wondering who the were whistling at. They must have known that I wasn't catching on so they yelled hey mamma--yeah you. WOW! Now that just made my vacation.

Ok, on to the trip review. We went with Double Header for the afternoon trip. We met the guide and took off. It was a little rough so he was restricted a bit. We didn't catch a whole lot. I was a little disappointed. This was a gift for my younger son and he told me that he loved it. I don't know if he was being gracious or if I expected too much. The guide gave us some fresh fish to grill at home. It was great.

sorry I had to delete the pictures--

You mean from your camera or from here? Who was your captain - do you remember his name?

Wow, a post from Anthony! Our captain was John. My sons flew into a full melt down that their faces were on the internet so I deleted them to save some peace with them.

Sorry to be unclear.

It' strange, but hubbie and his friends have only ever gone out with them and they never catch anything either - 3 trips so far - I think next year they will try someone else - I know it's all in the "fish" biting but 3 strikes and Pia's done :) :) :)

I have my third trip booked with Capt Gene on the Reel Therapy for the end of Feb. He's based out of St. Thomas (most boats are) and he's a very good Capt - friendly and knowledgable. He grew up in the VIs and knows the area well. Both times were pretty choppy so we stayed relatively close to shore, but I'm hoping to hit the South Drop this time. From what I'm told (and have seen on a map) the North Drop is quite a ways from St. John and you'd have to devote a full day for that trip.

His boat is on the smaller side - around 30' ft or so - but he's also the cheapest I've seen - $500 for a half day.
