More or less buggy in December?

Post by Gromit »

Greetings to all!

It's been a while since I've posted but I see that the usual suspects are still around, which is fantastic!

We took a year off from visiting STJ and spent vacation time in Florence, Italy and Disney World in 2006. But, as you all can attest, that STJ itch just doesn't ever seem to fade (STJ addiction afflicts us all!)

Some may remember me from previous forums and while I am a long time visiting veteran to STJ, I have to confess that all of my trips since 1995 have been in April -July!

We're planning this year's venture December 1-11 (Staying at Anole) and was wondering if anyone can attest to more or less bugginess, compared to Spring and Summer months.

BTW if you're reading FLA George and JAN (aka Charlie)- sorry for being such a slacker and losing touch!

November/December are my favorite times with the ocean water being a good bit warmer than April. Bugs seem to come and go with the rain. Last year for Thanksgiving it rained at night and the bugs were fine for me. The mosquito allergic had one or two nights where they got bitten. Bug spray and Claritin helped a lot.

Cheers, RickG

Hey Gromit

I was just about to send the troops (Flip Flop) out to look for you. How the heck are you doing? Oh ya – going to Italy and don’t invite me. Wish I could answer your question – but I always go in the “Cheap Season”. Hey – stay in touch, though I lost you. Glad your back.

Hey there!!

I was wondering what happened to ya, figured you were busy running around Eurpoe somewhere. I still have some pictures for you from our trip to "The Baths"

You will LOVE Anole, we stayed there 2 years ago (12/05), I posted a review. We had NO trouble with bugs on that trip, none whatsoever........ it was great!! It was a bit cool at night, but really no bug problems.

We will be on Island again this December!! We will look forward to hooking up with you guys!!   (notice I didn't really offer you a "choice")

Good to have ya back.

Hey, Gromit!Welcome back. We have always gone in April/May until this past November. Didn't find much difference bug-wise, though I loved the opening of "season" spent in Coral Bay. All of the bars and other businesses were just re-opening and getting back to full schedules and it was sort of a spring- like attitude of reawaking by the local community. You'll love it!

Ahh, I feel the embrace of my STJ family again. I feel the love!

Jan & George, so glad to see you are both doing so well. We'd love to hook up with any and all in December. We're going solo this year sans family or friends and are open to dinners, drinks etc.

From the lunar calendar it looks like there's no full moon party at Miss Lucy's during the first half of December, bummer!

Thanks to all for the "buggy" feedback.
