January Full Moon Party
Does anyone know what day the Full Moon Party at Miss Lucy's will be in January. I'm thinking the 26th but I'm not sure. What exactly is the Full Moon Party anyway? Food? Music? Hours?

Loosk like it will be Sunday nite the 11th. Here is a link that you can cross check the date and time.

I recall it starts around typical dinner hour, say 5 or 6 and goes into the night a good bit, but maybe not so late since that part of the island is usually on the early side of things...great music each time I've been and a yummy pig roast w/ all kinds of sides. You could make the Beach Bar for sunday jazz first and then drive out and still make Miss Lucys, enjoy.

I arrive the 31st of January and stay through Feb 11 so I can make the party on the 9th of February. I'll be looking to recruit fellow Forumites as it gets closer
This also means I can make Beach Bar Jazz on the 1st of February and the 8th (however the 1st is Super Bowl Sunday, so I may want to be at Skinny's). Does anyone know if you need to 'book' Skinny's for that night or do you just show up?
Ms.Montana, sorry for hi-jacking your thread.

Full Moon Party
Is the full moon party at Miss Lucy's on Jan. 11th? We will be on St. John from Jan 6th to the 13th.

Hmmm I just did a quick check of about 5 sources (including this one http://kalender-365.de/lunar-calendar.php?yy=2009) and they all say that the full moon in Jan is on the 11th.
Just wondering if anyone has any direct info regarding the party at Miss Lucy's. Does it still happen/is the place still open since her passing?
Thanks.

I just called Miss Lucy's to find out about their Full Moon Party. Starts at 6:00 and according to them a great band will be there! Island mixed with rock! They did not know the date of the full moon - from what we found it is January 11th. Our plan is go to Miss Lucy's for brunch - snorkle the day at Salt Pond - Miss Lucy's for Full Moon Party!
Are there any other places that do a Full Moon Party?

January Full Moon Party
Found some new information regarding when the full moon is. My conclusion after finding all this out is either wait till you arrive on STJ or call Miss Lucy's before you go. I had called but the person I talked to did not have a calendar in front of him and did not offer to find out.
NASA and the US Navel Observatory list the full moon occurring at 3:27 am on January 11th when calculating with Universal time (UT) but when they calculate using Eastern Standard Time (EST) it occurs at 10:27 pm on the 10th. I think this is what is causing the confusion.
Since St. John is on Atlantic Time which is one hour ahead of EST we can conclude that the full moon should occur at 11:27 pm on January 10th in St. John.
This reasoning is confirmed at http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/moo ... 2009&n=226
where they calculate the full moon occurring in San Juan Puerto Rico at 11:27 pm on January 10th. Since San Jaun is close to St. John and they are both in the Atlantic Time Zone we can use these calculations to determine when the full moon will occur in St John.
