Sept. trip?
Sept. trip?
We have been to STJ twice in May and I have just booked our flight for Sept. (no kids
moms got to have a break sometime) I know we will be there in Hurricane season and some places will be closed but could anyone who has traveled to STJ during that time give me some insight of what the weather is typically like? How are the crowds?

Atl mom,
We were on St. John for the first two weeks in Sept. last year and we have rented a villa for the same two weeks this year. My family gets together for a special reason during this time....we have tried other islands in the Caribbean, but none have come close to the beauty and serenity of St. John.
The weather was beautiful although quite hot and humid, so you may want to take this into consideration when deciding where to stay....IMHO air conditioning is a necessity, especially in the bedrooms. The wonderful breezes were nonexistent, which resulted in mosquito problems. It is for these reasons that we have chosen a hillside villa with central air for our upcoming Sept. trip.
Many restaurants are closed, though they don't all close during the same time. We managed to eat out every night while we were there
You may want to find a villa closer to Cruz Bay because if you choose to eat out, you will have more choices without having too far to drive. We stayed at Francis Bay Estate, which ended up being quite a drive into Cruz Bay for dinner every evening....most of the Coral Bay restaurants were closed.
There were no crowds......anywhere. We never had to wait to be seated for dinner. The beaches seemed like they belonged to us....mostly private and secluded. We loved Maho and spotted turtles every time we were there
I know that you and your husband will enjoy St. John in September.....hope you have a wonderful and safe vacation....mia
