Yes, RonUSVI is the same as any forum I go on. I have been here since lord knows. Started on the old AOL board with a few folks that ae still on here as well.

I am also a re-reader and probably read Atlas Shrugged at least 2x. My mom and I I were going thru an Ann Rand phase at the same time and swapped her books back and forth.

Ellen, I read Water for Elephants recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my wife.

Ellen- Oooo, The Handmaid's Tale. Veerry good! Very creepy and sad and 1984-ish. I really liked that book.

Hello All-
The recent posts on Atlas Shrugged have me thinking about reading it. I thought I had, but it was actually the Fountainhead I read, and I really enjoyed it.

Has anyone read both, if so, how do they compare?

Sherban,

I went to my husband for your answer, as he claims Atlas Shrugged to be just about his favorite read ever, and he has also read The Fountainhead.

He describes them to be similar, both dealing w/ Ayn Rand's philosophy. The Fountainhead has more of an emphasis on society where AtlasShrugged has more emphasis on the individual.

THE Fountainhead was written prior to Atlas Shrugged. He suggested to me that I read the Fountainhead first and then onto Atlas Shrugged...so you are one step ahead of me!

Okay, Iâ€™ll tell you guys what Iâ€™m reading too! Actually at the moment itâ€™s Digital Fortress by Dan Brown, Iâ€™d read Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code before, and I found they were really good, so I decided to look into Digital Fortress. Itâ€™s just as great, while being really informative at the same time. Dan Brown is just an amazing author, I seriously think all of his work is amazing.

For Christmas, I received the book "An Island Away", it's a novel about some people in Aruba. I am enjoying it quite a bit...although I know some of my interest comes from that fact that I have been to Aruba a couple times and enjoy the island...so I relate to the setting.

The author, Daniel Putkowski, seems like a pretty hip guy, he visits a couple of the Aruba forums...etc.

This book seems like a good vacation/island read and you will definately find it interesting if you are interested in Aruba, much of the story focuses on a prostitute from Colombia as well.
