The coconut telegraph says they are suspending ferry service after the midnight from Red Hook. I guess they are saying that to cover their butts in case the storm picks up over night. I'll see if I can find out more info. Does anyone else have more info?

Yes. A customs official told me that "all ports will be closed as of 5am tomorrow". This means no ferries or barges will be moving after that.
So today's last ferry from Red Hook is the last ferry.

The Pre-Omar Pool Party turned into a Pre-Omar Dinner Party! All of the pool furniture has been removed! One of our guests (a local) had heard that the customs office will not be opening tomorrow morining. We have watched two of the ferrys move around the corner into "the crick". One ferry did leave for RH about one half hour ago. Shortly after that, one barge moved into the crick. Like Julie reported, no school today. Like Randy reported, we also made one last run to Pine Peace for a couple of last minute things. I will say...business was good!!! We, too, have heard several differing local opinions about how bad things may or may not get. The trend seems to be getting a little less optimistic. Several reports are now saying cat 2-3. Cruz Bay looks more like the lake...than the ocean at this point...it's kinda weird! We'll be on the lookout for any more ferry activity as we have a front row view! More details soon come!

Quasi-meteorologically~

Straight off of the St Thomas Source web page.
"The last ferry between Cruz Bay, St. John and Red Hook, St. Thomas, will leave at 10 p.m. Tuesday.
-- The last ferry from Red Hook, St. Thomas, to Cruz Bay, St. John, will leave at 11 p.m. Tuesday.
After that ferry service will be suspended until further notice"

I had already heard earlier today that the Harbor was going to be closed to commercial traffic tomorrow including the cruise ships.

Hey all of ya'll in the islands, please stay safe!

Also, if your cell phones stop working (as well as land lines), try texting. Something that took us a few weeks to realize after Katrina. I don't know if it's gonna get so bad that you lose communication there but a 2 or a 3 is bad, heck a slow moving TS is bad enough.

Good luck and you will be in our thoughts!
