Re: Charter stop suggestions

I did that stretch along the Leinster Bay trail last time. Loved it. Pristine coral and lots of fish.

Re: Maho Jim= MIA

We were on island at the same time, but our plans and schedules never synced up for an actual meeting. I did hear from him after he got back so I know he arrived safely in the US. He did say re-entry was hard, but that's always the case.

Re: Ferry schedule

I don't know whether we were just lucky or what, but our luggage came out stunningly fast this trip. Arrived at 1:30 and made the 3:00 ferry. Even made a stop on the way for a local guy. I have to consciously remind myself to just accept Island Time when I'm there. Each hour of vacation is so precio...

Re: Phone question

I turn off data roaming. Joe's Rum Hut and Sun Dog Cafe have free wifi while you're in town. I did have a ATT go phone one trip. With as few calls as I really needed to make while out and about, the go phone probably cost me more money than the $1.99/minute that Verizon will charge. When you can fin...

Re: Country Music Fest

I have to admit, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The festival was what I used to get my wife to agree that we needed to come back - I'm more interested in the beaches and snorkeling than she is. I was kind of dreading the Beach Party on Jost. I'm not into crowds and White Bay is getting cr...

We have both lost a little weight since then, and I may have a few more gray hairs, but that's the general idea. Say hey when you see us!

OK, I think I have to give up reading

Trip starts in nine days. Between invisible stinging plankton, fires in Cruz Bay, out of control pesticide companies, fence construction blocking all the views, and impenetrable Saharan dust I'm wondering whether I should just forfeit the money and stay home! [Ha ha not really. At least this year th...

Re: Turks and Caicos

In 2004, we had excellent snorkeling right off the beach where we stayed. I'll check to see if I still have the map at home and report back on the name of the reef. Thanks for the link, PA Girl. Water and beaches look great, as does the really, really, fresh conch. If you think of the name of that ...

Re: Turks and Caicos

Thanks for all the responses; looks like the Conch Shack makes the list for sure. I've read that the place we're staying is walking distance to some decent restaurants, but I think I'll rent a car anyway to really open up the options. And I'm guessing that I'll need to have one to find some snorkeli...

Turks and Caicos

September is our 30th anniversary so we were going to plan a short beach trip to somewhere nice. We live a few hours from the Florida panhandle and take frequent weekend trips there and stay somewhere cheap. So this time we decided to splurge and stay at a very nice boutique hotel in Rosemary Beach....

Re: Charleston, SC

Two Meeting Street Inn is fantastic. http://www.twomeetingstreet.com/ Down near the battery, so a little bit of a longer walk (a few blocks as I recall) to restaurants and shopping but well worth the trade-off in my opinion. If you stay here, request one of the rooms upstairs with semi-private acces...

Re: Tribord easybreath snorkel facemask

I have reserved one for my visit in May. At $75/week for the rental, I probably should just buy one on eBay instead.

Never used it, just going by the rave reviews.
