Re: What's new in 2017?

So good to be back among the STJ friendlies...really appreciate the good intel. Teresa, good to know about the barges and now I'm pretty convinced I better figure out another game plan on departure day. I may call AA just to see what's what because 2.5 hours should be enough, but rules are rules. R...

Re: What's new in 2017?

Howdy, Cory! Long time, no see. Boyson was able to get the Mister B back so that has improved things. It's only been about a week though, so hopefully things continue going well with the car barge situation. Are you trying to make a 9:30 flight taking the car barge or the people ferry? If American i...

Re: Making the 3pm RedHook Ferry....

I think you'd have to get very, very lucky to make the 3 pm ferry. It can easily take 15 minutes or more to get off the plane once it lands, so you're going to lose time just getting off the plane and making the walk to the taxi area. Taking a private taxi improves your chances since you won't have ...

Re: sailing and STJ

Hopefully RickG will stop by this thread; he sails in the islands pretty regularly these days (got his own boat a few years ago!). He's posted some sailing trip reports here on the forum, you might want to search for them.

Re: Morgan's Mango

Morgan's Mango used to be one of our must go-to spots, but like you, we haven't been there for years now. Come to think of it, I think we were last there in 2008? We used to love it but then we had multiple negative experiences in a row and stopped going there. I might be willing to give it a try ag...

Re: Aqua Blu Jeep rental

Their website states that if you want to use your own car insurance, you must have a letter on your insurance company's letterhead stating that your insurance is valid in the USVI, otherwise you have to pay $15 per day. We've been going to STJ since 2003 and never had to have a letter before, though...

Re: America Hill Hike, Ruins, & View

Great shots, Kevin!

I've been wanting to do that hike but haven't had a chance in recent years because of having small kiddos with us on STJ. Maybe this year!

Re: Kachi Ra in Bethany

I searched this forum and only found a few posts that were somewhat relative to what I need. My wife and I are planning our 6th trip to St. John and will be staying a minimum of 4 weeks. One place, listed through VRBO, seems to fit our plan, but I can't seem to find much information and reviews on ...

Re: Drones and glass bottles

A couple trips ago we were (accidentally) at Trunk on a cruise ship day. I'd checked the cruise ship schedule and there weren't supposed to be any ships in port that day, but there was some kind of error because we got there, paid to get in, and then shortly thereafter, cruise ship people arrived. I...

Re: Gluten free in coral Bay Area?

My sister's husband also has celiac disease and I know he tried to order something GF at Aqua Bistro and had a bad experience (the waitress was like, "no matter how hard I try to tell the kitchen to make something gluten free, there will probably still throw some flour on it"...this was a...

Re: Gluten free in coral Bay Area?

I got my celiac diagnosis was almost 9 years ago so I have many STJ trips under my belt since having to go GF, and the only place I've successfully eaten GF on the Coral Bay side was Tourist Trap, which is now closed. My sister's husband also has celiac disease and I know he tried to order something...

Re: Budget/Thrifty

Yes, Amalie is booked up. My main concern was taking it over to STJ- but Insuppose the cars are pretty new and therefore the chance of a breakdown isn't too big. It's been a few years but we've rented from Budget 9 or 10 times and only got a newish vehicle once or twice. We had Jeeps that were in p...
