Re: Restaurant review??
I think that if you take Trip Advisor for what it is and keep an open mind, you get a pretty good idea about the quality of a restaurant. Ignore the one post complainers, look at other things a person has reviewed, and pay attention to what they say they like or dislike. I look at TA, go to the rest...

Not sure of everyone's budget but these would be really nice. If not for the exchange then for yourself. I have been wanting to order one. You can pick sand from several beaches on STJ or many other beaches or you can send you own sand in. Pretty cool idea. http://www.beachsandsnowflakes.com/beachs...

Re: Coral Bay Marina
I understand the pump station benefits but it seems to me that this marina is too large for Coral Bay. I'm not a change is bad person; I'm all about what is right for the environment and am concerned that the bad will outweigh the good. Will it really be as environmentally favorable (or at least neu...

Re: New Ferry Spotted
We actually got to try it out when we left the island July 6 :-( We sat inside so that I could report back to the forum - I'll post photos later. The seats are plush but they do not recline. There are 4 TVs, all of which were tuned to Bill Cosby Show reruns. A/C was cranking. No food or beverages, s...

Re: New Ferry Spotted
We ate lunch at High Tide today and watched Red Hook 1 leave around 1pm, Cruz Bay 1 left about 2 pm, and Red Hook 1 returned about 2:20. Each time, they had real passengers. Time will tell if it is only for Carnival or if they are finally operating a regular schedule.

Re: Air Condition? How necessary in April? Full or part?
Definitely a/c in the bedrooms at a minimum. Problem with the trade winds is that if there are no screens, the bugs come in. So, if you go with something that isn't fully a/c make sure it has screens in the windows. In April, the average high is 83 F while the low is 72 F so be your own judge as to ...

Re: Grande Bay vs Gallow Pointe looking for feedback
My husband and I stayed at Gallows Point in February; we're going back in July with our 16 yo daughter so we have rented a 2-bedroom unit at Grande Bay. We like being able to walk to town for the restaurants and shopping. If it was just the 2 of us, I would likely have rented again at Gallows Point,...

Re: Taxi Overcharge - How Do You Handle It?
I would have said something and told him it was $30 for 2 people and 2 bags. Then, I would not have tipped him since he tried to gouge you. They can charge a surcharge between midnight and 6am but you were before then. Also, even with the surcharge, the rate should have been $34 not $50.

Re: Snorkel Fins
The short fins are really designed as exercise fins, so in some ways, you will work harder with them. My son got some so they would be easier to pack and decided that they weren't as good as "regular" ones.

Re: New Restaurant at Gallows Point
You can look on TripAdvisor and find lots of reviews. The restaurant is Ocean 362 and it is wonderful! The chef is very personable and the staff are great. Best views from the bar upstairs but the ones from the dining room are pretty good too. We ate their twice on our visit in February.
