Re: A Long Air Travel Rant
Now you have me nervous. We are flying Southwest to SJU and catching a Seaborne flight to STT. SW arrives at 1:50 and the Seaborne flight departs at 4:40. We've never switched airlines before. Any advice you can share would be much appreciated! You should be fine but do plan to go right to your Sea...

Re: A Long Air Travel Rant
We too had an issue with a SJU-VGI connection with CapeAir but most of the blame for ours lies with USAir who messed up our reservation. I will agree that CapeAir seems overwhelmed when something goes wrong or if they are super busy. We got stuck in SJU for one night on our way to VGI. USAir had our...

So glad it worked out for you. Can't believe that was not the first option - should have put you on that one to begin with.

Re: Flight Change Debacle - Call for Suggestions
Jet Blue has a flight with 5 seats that leaves STT on the 12th at 2:53 pm and gets to DTW at 9:56 pm, through Boston. Orbitz also shows a United flight that leaves at 3:32 and connects with an AA/US flight that gets to DTW at 12:13 am on Monday. All the other flights I saw wouldn't get you back unti...

Re: Flight Change Debacle - Call for Suggestions
You should also look to see if any other airlines have flights home that would work for you. With a major change like they have forced onto you, they should look for alternative ways to get you home, even if it means another airline. And, yes, you can cancel the entire itinerary and book something e...

Re: Newborn stingrays
Oh how cool! Someone posted a video recently on FB, of newborn stingrays emerging from their egg casings. The casings were very familiar to anyone who's spent time at Eastern US beaches (maybe Western too), but I didn't know what they'd held until I saw the video. Google it - it's cool! All rays gi...

Re: Trip to the E.R.
Wow, snorkeler, it sound like you have had a long journey as well. Hopefully his will heal quickly, the spiral fracture is on the phalanges and he has no weight bearing restrictions. Very sore all over this morning, and hobbling around on the foot. The whole baby toe is a pretty shade of purple.. I...

Re: Trip to the E.R.
Sorry to hear of his fall. FWIW, don't take that 5th metatarsal fracture lightly. I broke mine falling on some stairs last August while on vacation. Went to ER there and then an ortho surgeon when I got home. Long story short, it didn't heal (in fact got worse) and the OS was a jerk. I found a great...

Re: Lost luggage
When we were there last July, one of our bags did not make it. They called and told us what ferry it would be on. When we went down to meet the ferry, our bag was already there, just sitting on the dock! The delivery guy apparently sent it over with a buddy on an earlier ferry and didn't bother to t...

Re: Fire at Mongoose Junction
I hope there will be a fundraiser to help those adversely affected by this fire - so sad - and I hope that any problems that might have contributed to the severity of the damage will also be addressed. Thinking of everyone affected and wishing you the best.

Re: President's "Week"???
The week of President's Day is typically a vacation week for public school kids in New England; therefore, the term President's Week. Many of us seek out warmer climates to get a break from winter. Yes, it is busy but that doesn't mean you won't be able to enjoy yourselves. We were there last Presid...

Re: Caribbean Lobster - How to Cook & Recipes
As a vegetarian, I say don't cook it. But, I don't force my diet on others. :) So, a friend of mine who is all about cooking and eating anything sustainable from the ocean swears by the microwave for lobster. Says it is the best way to cook any lobster. Here is a recipe I found on line for microwave...

Re: Seaweed in the VI
Although it might not be pretty, Sargassum, an algae, is very important to many juvenile fish and sea turtles. Loggerhead hatchlings from nests in the Carolinas make their way out to the Sargasso Sea where large patches of Sargassum can be found. They spend their time there eating and growing before...
