Re: South Shore Area

Pros: quiet, great mix of ocean and valley views

Con: one of the furthest neighborhoods from the North Shore beaches.

Re: Food

Whether or not you will find the meats available for purchase in the market acceptable will depend on what type of food you buy for yourself at home. If you are like most people and buy "regular" grocery store types of meats such as Perdue chicken, select grade cuts of steak etc., those ar...

Re: VRBO #296551-- Rendezvous Villa Review

If I remember correctly, you need to create a separate profile to post on the villa review page. You can use your same login and password as over here, but you have to specifically register over there (and maybe have your registration approved by a moderator? It's been a while since I did it) to pos...

Re: Long Trip Report October 11-20, 2016

Thanks for your detailed report! You packed a lot in. Haulover North is my favorite spot when it's calm. I am glad you were able to snorkel it so many times. I love the three mooring ball snorkel too. What a great idea to snorkel back to the parking lot. I have never tried that before, I always thou...

Re: November 14th SUPERMOON

Miss Lucy's hosts a full moon party monthly (when it's open, which it will be in November). There's a pig roast and live music. It could be especially fun during the supermoon!

Re: Conch Fritters

My favorite conch fritters are at Miss Lucy's. I also really like the conch fritters at Caneel Bay's beach bar. They are smaller than a typical conch fritter and come with a curried banana ketchup that is really delicious. Shipwreck Landing's are also very good. I don't think I have tried the fritte...

Re: Two more weeks in paradise, part one

I was wondering why my summer report got bumped up! ShaSha, 15 minutes is accurate. I would actually say it takes a little less than that, but planning to 15 minutes is a good idea. nothintolose, I enjoyed the snorkeling in Klein Bay. It's not the best on the island by any stretch, but we saw a dece...

Re: Transportation from Airport to Red Hook

I have always booked my private taxi to Red Hook via Chris Taxi:

They have reasonable rates, polite drivers, and comfortable vehicles. We have never had to share a ride with anyone else.

Re: BVI boat charter news

Yes it will apply - you MUST clear customs once you pass into International waters before you proceed anywhere (you always had to just not in person only the captain or crew member with your passports) you never could just go to the Baths (or anywhere) to just snorkel until you cleared. Pia Ha, thi...

Re: Reservation Fee

Destination St. John does charge security deposit, or at least they used to. We had to send them a check for $1,000 when we rented a Coral Bay villa from them. It was returned to us uncashed after our stay. Catered To has always charged the reservation and damage waiver fee. They also have an after ...

Re: Trip Report – May/June – Part 3 – Encounters with Critte

I've found scorpions at a couple of the houses we have rented over the years. One house in particular was a scorpion and tarantula magnet for some reason. I would remove the tarantulas by tossing them off the deck into the trees below. Scorpions got squashed though! Your barracuda encounter was inte...

Re: Two more weeks in paradise, final

Love your reports...thanks for taking the time to post them! One quick question: how do you take such colorful underwater pictures? Sorry, I missed your question the first time I came back to my report. The most important thing to do is make sure that you have a camera with an underwater setting, a...
