Re: Oh no! First-timers leaving in a week, lots of questions

You have gotten a lot of very good advise. Here is mine as well. Definitely the Beach Bar. For food they have awesome Nachos and fantastic Painkillers, BUT, also ask the bartender to fix a special drink for you. They always come up with yummy drinks. The Beach Bar is always my first stop after getti...

Re: What's your opinion?

Well, I am definitely not rich and I vacation in St. John. You just have to be smart about your money. I could SO live in a tent though for more than a week and be perfectly happy with my life, (not that I'm not happy now). If you are middle age with no commitments and no reason to stay where you ar...

Re: BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT ST JOHN

Dreamshark: thank you for that summation. It is up to each persons personal preferences but since I have only been in May & October I wanted to find out what some of the other months were like and others views. You have all confirmed what I was thinking. July is probably the best time to go. I a...

BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT ST JOHN

What is the BEST time of year to visit STJ? Taking into consideration rainy season, hurricane season, etc. I know the potential for rain everyday is there but I am looking to find out when the least rainfall is. I've been very lucky each time I have gone during hurricane season, but I'm not wishing ...

Re: STJ ON A BUDGET

Thank you for your help. I found a couple I really liked and did not know they existed. I really think I'm going to check out Kachira when it is closer to time. Really liked that one. We are planning to come sometime around July or August of next year so we will hit low season rates and hopefully be...

STJ ON A BUDGET

This will be my 4th trip to STJ and it will not be til next year but I am wanting to scope out some places. I am SO excited that I will be bringing my sister with me who has never been before. I know my wants are on the high expectation end of a budget, but I'm sure there is someplace on island that...

Re: Which trails/hikes to do?

I enjoyed the walk down to Honeymoon Beach. Your husband may not like this one if he has bad feet but the rest of you would. The beach is beautiful. Peace Hill is a good one. Good views but the last time I was there it was a little overgrown. There were a few bees in the ruins but they didn't seem t...

Re: Showing that you are a forumite

I don't have my next visit planned yet, but I would definitely buy a couple of wrist bands for when I do come next. I'm kind of shy when it comes to going up to someone and asking if they are on the forum so this would definitely make it easier to approach somebody with an introduction. Let me know ...

If I remember correctly, Wednesday night at Mongoose Junction they have live music and people get up and dance. It's in the courtyard at the Sun Dog Cafe. Good time!!

Re: Fill in the Blanks...

I would have to say I am obsessed with St. John because of how serene it is. I feel so at home when I am there. No worries, no cares and yes, I feel very safe there. I still keep my guard half way up but for the most part, very safe. The people there are so friendly and so welcoming. St. John is the...

Re: Are you flying to .......

Pia, I think this is a wonderful thing that people can do to try and keep a dog from being killed. I will definitely check the next time I plan a trip to the rock to see if there is any way I can help out. Keep up the hard work, those puppies need more people like you!

Definitely Ronnie's Pizza. They also have some really good chocolate brownies. As for sunscreen, most villas have varieties of sunscreens leftover from people. I've never had to buy sunscreen.
