Re: Donkey Diner for sale , $50k?

I have such nice memories of DD from back in 2006 during our stay in Coral Bay. I remember getting excited about pizza night, only for it to be on a different day, then feeling crushed. I haven't been back since, so I kept wondering WHY this wonderful place wouldn't be swooped up in an flash by some...

Re: does a hot tub make a difference in villa choice?

I love a hot tub (my own) not someone else's especially when it is used by a lot of frisky vacationers who have been drinking. If you catch my drift.

Re: High season advice for babymoon!

The trickiest part may be the rental vehicle. They do "run out" pretty quickly in high season. I booked a few months in advance last year and got the last Jeep Amalie had for that week. I think finding a place to stay would be pretty doable if you aren't particular. You may even be able to...

Re: Coral Bay eats and GOOD sandwich rolls?

Have you looked in to the new sandwich place in Coral Bay called Pickles? I haven't been, but I'm sure someone has that can speak to their menu and quality of sandwiches and other eats.

No, they are different villas. Croix Vista looks very nice too, but it is on Skytop. C Vista is on Klein Bay Rd.
Thanks for the clarification. I've been wondering :)

Re: Tree Top Hideway

This place is currently for sale. The listing says it was built in 2013, so you may be hard pressed to find many reviews of it or people who have stayed there other than the reviewers on VRBO. I would guess that some locals from the forum may know more about it or have seen it in person. Are those s...

Re: Progress at Plumeria (longish)

Love to hear about the progress at both of your villas!
I think you offer such a valuable insight into owning a home on St. John and how to maintain it properly and cater to your guests. It definitely shows in your bookings!
Wish you all the best in this doubling down adventure :D

Re: Why do you love STJ... & what does STJ mean to you

The island makes me feel like a better version of me. I think more about my purchases (so as not to waste), I plan my meals more wisely, I think about not wasting food, water, and electricity, etc, I think about reducing my footprint so as to help maintain the beauty that surrounds me. Being there m...

Re: Rental Car for 6 adults?

Most people will caution you about renting one vehicle with that many adults. Inevitably you will want to split up and won't have a vehicle for some in the group.
But, if your budget doesn't allow for 2 vehicles, you can check out Discount on STT. They have Durangos and Traverses that are for 6+.

Re: Are We In For A Letdown?

If you loved it enough to want to come back, then you shouldn't be disappointed. The island remains wonderful and breathtaking in so many ways. But, I would be concerned that you will be disappointed with either your villa choice or your rental vehicle. There have been lots of stories coming out abo...

Re: Amalie rentals- child seats and breakdowns?

I found the link to the thread stating that Amalie had people on STJ: It's post #9 by LynnieGirl65 http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g147409-i432-k6551220-Amalie_Car_Rental_Highly_Recommended-St_John_U_S_Virgin_Islands.html I know it's a pain, but you can always check the car seats and pick them ...

Re: Amalie rentals- child seats and breakdowns?

1. I inquired with Amalie about car seats 2 years ago and was told by Madgelena that they didn't rent them. I inquired again for our trip this past spring and 3 months ahead she said the booster seats were all booked. So, it appears that they did get them. But, not sure what the current ownership is...

I really enjoyed all 4 parts of your report! Gorgeous pictures!

I love how you name all the fish. But, I'm curious if you know when your snorkeling what each of them are, or do you have to look them up after seeing your pictures?
