Re: Senate approves zoning change for Coral Bay marina

The bay is the Virgin Islands National Monument. It cannot be changed, under today's rules, without the approval of the Army Corps of Engineers, the EPA and several other agencies. If the GOP platform gets implemented, it would be up to local authorities to approve or deny approval. With their track...

Re: Senate approves zoning change for Coral Bay marina

You better pray Trump isn't elected. The Republican Party platform includes some significant gutting of the EPA and their power. This project will fly through... Prove it. Will this be sufficient? When you fill in the boxes for the search, the city name should be St John and NOT Cruz Bay.

Re: CBS Sunday Morning visits St. John

I agree that the piece was too narrowly focused. Not that they need to be defended but...They have a limited amount of time to tell the story. The series is about our national parks. Telling how it came to be a park is not at all inappropriate. Also, look at their demographics. Most of the people wh...

Lion Fish - It's What's for Dinner

I came across this on the Wall Street Journal's web site. Let's ask the local businesses to start serving them. There is a seemingly unlimited supply.

That is bad news. The one sun screen that our dermatologist recommended has that terrible chemical in it. Our sunscreen is Blue Lizard. :(

PM Is Not Working For Me

Anthony, it says the memory is full and cannot open a new message I have. I have tried to delete messages. The messages do not seem to be leaving the system.

All, if you are trying to reach us via PM, as you can see, nothing is coming through.

Re: Latest Car Barge News

I think you need to rent on STJ. Even if that means using three different companies, you need to take the people ferry and give up on the barges. Do what you have to to prevent this from spoiling your trip.

It sounds like the "No Place to Go, No Place to Be" tour. I'm glad you got the opportunity to get some R&R.

I forgot to note that SJCR will not accept AmEx cards any more. If that is your source of insurance coverage, you need to go to plan B.

Re: Car rental companies demanding letter from insurance com

I called St John Car Rental yesterday and spoke to Cynthia as I normally do about a month before I arrive. She told me that all she needed was a copy of our US insurance card. She didn't know anything about the controversy on this thread. She also said that getting burned by a renter who damaged a v...

Re: Car rental companies demanding letter from insurance com

I don't think I am missing the point at all. The OP said that CCR ripped them off. I don't care if they "feel ripped off" the point is they weren't ripped off. I've treated 3 couples to St. John all expenses for the past 7 years but I'm not sure how this is relevant to the topic at hand. ...

Re: TSA lines

That depends on how you are looking at the issue. I have a certain amount of money and time to spend on the VI trip. If I get left behind, I'll have to take a day away from another vacation that I was planning.

Re: TSA lines

Fortunately, when we are in-bound we don't have to deal w/ TSA in STT. I suggest you take a look around when you arrive and see where things stand. I believe even if you have checked it out and it either looks good or bad, it could change in a half hour and go the other way. The above advise is very...

Re: Car rental companies demanding letter from insurance com

Still a rip off. Nobody does that. Sorry Koolmom, that is not cool. When they notify you in writing, in the same size type as every other part of their conditions, that is not a rip off. You and everyone else have the same choices. You can abide by their requirements by calling your agent and askin...
