Re: Trip blog St John Jan10-24th

I just sat at my desk, ate my lunch and felt as if I was back on island whilst reading your trip report. Thanks for that. Its been a little over 7 years since we've been on island without kids. And while our family vacations are the best, after reading your report, I'm also looking forward to coming...

Re: Happy hour deals and times of day

Spyglass used to have the best Happy Hour. Never actually been there for non-Happy Hour eats/drinks, but the wings, sliders and drinks there couldn't be beat. Perfect place to take the kids, watch the sun go down over the water, have some bites, drinks and listen to some guitar. This past trip we sp...

Re: President's "Week"???

After two recent trips over the Christmas holidays, we decided to try a less busy time and booked two weeks in February. Now I'm reading several posts that refer to President's "week", and how busy it is. We have President's "Day" in the midwest. And that's it. Is it different o...

La Tapa is our one must go every time we are on island. Far and away our favorite. Its not cheap, for sure, but its not particularly fancy.

Re: The real deal on Xmas/NY Eve week?

I just got back from STJ going from Christmas to New Years. We have school aged kids and have other family plans over Presidents week so we were pretty limited on times we could go. With the caveat that we had an awesome time, our boys love St. John (they are 7 and 4), they have their favorite place...

Re: Stereos on the beaches/ littering-

Mahojim, I didn't miss your point. It was your comment about saving the loud music for the villa that concerned me. Because of the topography of the island, it may appear that your rental house is the only one around. What a lot of people don't realize is that there are other houses close by and so...

Re: Reef Bay Hike questions?

Is the hike appropriate for kids? Our boys will be 4.5 and 7.5 and I've been waiting to go on the hike with them.

Re: Does anyone like.....

Exactly Crash! We head to the beach, stay until 2-3 ish, head to the pool for an hour or so (sometimes the pools up on the hillside are completely to ourselves), grill or head to Cruz Bay for the evening sunset/diner and crash in a kingsize Heavenly bed. Villas are nice, but I like that if you plan...

Re: Does anyone like.....

With our kids still being relatively small (4 and 7 now), we've gravitated to the Westin Villas since we've been coming down with them. Our general MO is going to a different beach every morning, and then spending time by the pool in the later afternoon - especially when the kids used to nap more. F...

Re: What to do with your gear

We usually use a water proof wallet with cards and a little cash..and the keys of course..and either clip it on our suits or I wiggle it around my wrist..its tight and wont come off...I think we got it at Wally for about 5 bucks...its actually a cell phone case..works great...unless you do like hub...

Re: Grande Bay parking ???

Follow up question on Grande Bay Parking. We are considering GB for our upcoming trip and if we can convince our friends to come, we would look into a 3 bdrm unit. That would involve 2 rental cars though - 1 for each family. I presume that all units - including the 3bdrms - only come with one parkin...

Re: Trip Report - Sailing March 8-15 2014

Haven't heard too much about Scrub Island, but it sounds legitimately fancy. That's too bad. One of my favorite memories from my honeymoon was Happy Hour on to of Marina Cay listening to Beans and then dinghying over to Scrub Island for dinner at Donovan's Reef. I'm not much of a sailor but reading ...

Re: Zozo's

Is it easy/pleasant to go there just for a drink or is the bar only big enough for folks waiting for their table? Can you order food at the bar? Any issues with parking at Caneel to go to Zozo's for a drink (while not having a rez)?

Anyone need a beach chair?

I bought one of those backpack beach chairs at the Hardware Store to use for the week. It's a great chair (retails for $50) and would hate to see it go to waste. If anyone is interested and is able to pick it up from the Westin Villas tonight or tomorrow morning, drop me a pm or reply.

Thanks.
