Private Taxi?

Is there such a thing as a private taxi service on STJ? My wife and I stay at Battery Hill and rarely rent a car. We walk everywhere and make regular use of the public taxis. But when another couple visits, they're not walkers, so -- rather than renting a car -- we'd be interested in having a driver...

We travel on American, and the limit is 62 inches, when the item is measured width + length + depth.

I bring a box that adds up to exactly that dimension (24+20+18) and have never had a problem with checking it.

PA Girl, There isn't much in terms of evening dining or attractions within walking distance of the museums and monuments; they're mostly a daytime activity. Although cabs are an option, I think the best way to get around DC is by metro (see http://wmata.com/rail/maps/map.cfm). The museums and Washin...

We've done two 7-day stays and two one-month stays on St. John. Each of these have been in December or January . . . escapes from cold weather.

Seven days is too short; one month is too short!

This new restriction won't bother us.

Given the cost of renting a car on either island, we stay close to Cruz Bay and walk everywhere or take taxis. We typically rent a car on STJ for a day or two.

We discovered P&P's Restaurant on our last trip and loved it. I can't stop thinking about, and wishing I had one of the chicken rotis. To get there stay on the road past Gallows Point and follow it around till it splits. Follow the road on the left up the hill, the restaurant is a the top of th...

Frank Bay is beautiful, but the beach is quite rocky. Great spot to snorkel (careful: urchins), watch the sunset, visit Coconut Coast Studio.

Seems to me that the G Spot/Larry's Landing was permanently closed when I walked past in February . . . unless, of course, they've moved.

Looks pretty staged. Kinda boring.

Here's a much better one, for the Carib House on Antigua:

Of course, the music's amazing, but there's just more fun, a stronger sense of the local scene, more of everything.
