I think it's hit or miss, meaning VRBO can work out great sometimes and sometimes not....just like rental companies. I almost always travel OFF Saturday to Saturday...I usually travel Mon-Wed. down and the same back...

Sat to Sat is usually the worst for crowds traveling to the Caribbean....

Tripadvisor and everytrail are the ones I used on island.

I usually want to avoid a lot of technology while vacationing in the islands...just me....

My wife has Verizon and her coverage on island was bad. I have AT&T and my coverage was good.

We also used WiFi to connect...
