Re: Flight purchases - 330 day rule?

Like RickG, we have booked one way tickets for the past couple of years. There isn't any reason not to do so and I have found better flight times and often better prices buying one-way. My mom is relentless in her FF mile quest, she is obsessed and extremely frustrated with the lack of availability....

Re: SJU > STT via Cape Air? Opinions?

We use Cape Air many times over the years. Love the small plane experience but it seems like there are more "challenges" since they are growing into the market. We flew (or tried to) in February and it was a mess, for a number of reasons, to the extent it really messed with our vacation ti...

Re: What did Santa bring??

From my dear husband - a Caneel 60th anniversary scarf. It is gorgeous, all bright pinks, greens, blues, yellows, oranges and so soft - silk and cashmere. It has all the iconic Caneel and STJ scenes woven into it - donkeys, ruins, turtles, ferry dock, etc. It was my favorite present and a total surp...

Re: What do you pack in your cooler for villa meals& snack?

We took a cooler for many STJ and other Caribbean trips. Even though we eat out every lunch and dinner, we liked to take breakfast meats, beach snacks and evening meals for the non-driving grandparents who preferred to stay in at night. I never took pre-made meals but I would think something dense l...

Re: About Caneel Bay, St. John, USVI

Kind of an interesting thought to offer villas for sale eventually on the property. I would hate to see that happen since it is a special place but continued cost cutting will, further erode the quality of caneel bay. Dave The land is owned by the NPS and from what I have read over the years is that...

Re: Recommendations for one night in STT

We did an overnight at the Marriott on the way to STJ in June. I can't remember the price (we may have used points) but it was good for a one night stay. The view is lovely and the pool is pleasant. Ere is a great restaurant down by the morning star section that you can either walk to or use the res...

Re: About Caneel Bay, St. John, USVI

Oh boy, that's too bad. Just Three hours ago, my husband talked about a summer trip again for 2016. Last year a Caneel gift certificate was one of my Christmas gifts and we had a great trip in the summer.... We saw a lot of positive things in June- beach service, service in the restaurants, activiti...

Re: Oh, no! Out of Valley Doll sauce

We are also huge valley doll fans. That and blind Betty's are our household condiments.

Last time I ordered from STJ spice, I remember getting three different types of valley doll.

This post reminded me to order amchristmas gift box for hubby.

Re: Can we make a 45 minute layover?

Thanks Sun. We're booked for the later flight. Husband enough miles for a free ticket! So excited to get back. That's great you got a ticket on miles! After missing one too many flights with short connections, I don't even consider anything under 90 minutes. We get to our next gate and grab an over...

Re: Any ideas for flights from PHL

One of our employees flies out of Wilkes barre Scranton a couple of times a year because he finds the price worth it. Would going up the NE extension of the turnpike be worth it for you? Have you looked at Allentown? My aunt used to fly into Allentown on USAirwyas but I don't know if they still serv...

I am glad to hear your trip is going so well. Concerning Grande Bay – through the years most people probably didn’t like other development that occurred in Cruz Bay but it is there, it’s not going away and if it provides the type of facilities that someone and/or their family needs, then some good h...

Re: Driftwood Daves for Sale?

I know in PA, the rise in credit card transactions has bar/restaurant owners fleeing that line of business due to tax reporting. Why? Does it make it harder to cheat on yor taxes that way? Much harder, almost impossible (well, assuming one cares about getting caught) as credit/debit cards leave a p...

Re: Driftwood Daves for Sale?

First i've heard about it and i go there a couple of times a week. Then again everything is for sale here. Way over priced at 250k. It certainly seems like it. As an accountant and a former business analyst, I am always interested in these listings. I know in PA, the rise in credit card transaction...

Re: Providencia, Colombia- anybody been there...?

If you are seeking rustic, check out Middle and North Caicos in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The main island is Provo, which is serviced by most, if not all, of the major airlines. We have been twice and we went from home to sitting on the beach by noon. I can get you more info when I get to work t...
