Re: The Final Countdown

You're a brave soul any I'm right behind you with 7 newbies (all women!). So please have a great time and feel free to share any wisdom you have learned along the way. Gorgeous photo!! It has been quite a chore convincing some of the women they can go 'carry-on only'... A few of the women take 2 su...

The Final Countdown

In 2 days Karen and I will be embarking on a different kind of trip to our favorite island. We have always gone by ourselves, but on Saturday we are taking 8 newbies with us. We have traveled with them before on cruises and other vacations, but this is their first time on the island except for day t...

What is not working? You cant get the pictures to display in Flickr or you cant get the share code from Flickr? For what it is worth, i have been having lots of problems with Flickr since the big change last May.

Re: TGIF - Video Edition

bdkane: I am the most amateur - amateur photographer on the whole planet, but I love good photography....I just don't have the eye or the patience... I got an new camera for Christmas with all sorts of settings and I love playing with them - someday I might actually be able to take decent pictures. ...

Re: TGIF - Video Edition

It is worth the hike. Hike is actually pretty short from Leinster Bay if you are already there. Bring lunch. There is a picnic table in the ruins...I think it is the most beautiful view on the island... This pic was taken from the picnic table: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8409/8857297490_07d3d37f...

Re: RickG's group travel rules for St. John

I usually don't use a travel agent. I do if we cruise because I have found that I always get a better deal on a cruise through an agent. I used a travel agent this time for the flights because I did not want to be the one worried about getting 10 people to the island. I generally buy my plane ticket...

Re: RickG's group travel rules for St. John

With our group, there is one "cruise director" they pick every thing and all others dare not complain... cruise director is hard work and the person with the job is respected :D . We have discounted some whiners and have labeled them un-inevitable! I am the "Cruise Director...

Re: RickG's group travel rules for St. John

Hi Rick, Karen and I are going to the island in October with 8 'newbies' - our first time with a group. Most have been to the island before, but only on day trips. Most of us have vacationed together before so I think we will be fine. I have just made this thread 'required reading' before the trip. ...

AA through Miami

After reading 54B's latest 'open letter' to Spirit Airlines (great reading for those that haven't seen it) I decided to check my AA flight for October. Glad I did. They moved me from a flight arriving STT at noon and changed me to one arriving at 8:40 PM... I was able to get it changed so now I am g...

Re: St. John Off The Beaten Track App for iPhone

In the iOS version, the only thing available without a signal is the large trail bandit map. It is a very high quality map and you can zoom in but you cannot tap on individual trails for info. That being said, I still think it is worth the $2. I have always like Gerald's book, but it too heavy to ca...

Re: Centerline Road

When the NPS was paving North Shore a few years ago they had a temporary, portable, computer controlled stop light. Perhaps it could be used on Centerline until the repairs are complete. It was the automated equivalent of having 2 flag men and seemed to work well.
