The latest with my evacuees is that my daughter's school where she teaches first grade has flooded and has partial roof collapse. They may try to move those students to another campus so for now they are out for the week. Her husband, who attends University of Texas Medical Branch on Galveston Islan...

My daughter and her new husband, who honeymooned on STJ in June have evacuated from Galveston to our home in Texarkana. Their apt is a few miles north of the island and we are just hoping the winds won't break the windows and ruin everything they own in the world but there wasn't time to do anything...

I think that is the funniest trip report that I have ever read... I was re-telling the part about the bugs to my husband and I think I strained my neck laughing so hard about yall trying to fall back asleep after seeing all those bugs!

I loved it! I am always trying to describe the way the island "feels" when not just on the beaches but the rest of our facinating island and I think you gave some shots that I definitely haven't seen before to highlight the island... I'll be showing this to friends!

We have stayed in 9C and 15D and one of the lower harbor units but I can't remember which one, maybe 11A. 15D would have to be my favorite because as mentioned earlier, the front door faces the pool for easy access and the view is outward away from the harbor ...

Isn't it funny how leaving our lives behind in the states and making our pilgrimage to STJ is often stressful but by the end of the night we are sinking into our seats with dinner on island and finally our reactions to the stresses of life decrease as the temperature and humidity go blessedly up?
