Re: To Maine in six weeks!

Also, Bar Harbor can get chilly even at the height of summer, especially at night -- definitely plan to layer so that you're ready for cooler temps if necessary! Think roughly 80 during the day, 60ish at night....

Re: To Maine in six weeks!

Ahhh, love Bar Harbor! Definitely get out onto the nat'l park trails for a walk or bike ride -- there's a wide range of difficulty levels, so you can find something that's perfect for you. Driving the Acadia Loop Road is highly recommended as well. For a sunset cruise, definitely the Margaret Todd: ...

Doesn't include the BVI, or even St. Croix, but I love these wooden maps: http://www.3dwoodmaps.com/international ... -caribbean

Re: Found Mens Gold Wedding Ring

My friends are on their honeymoon, and were just at Hawksnest recently -- I just sent them a text to ask (I know three different people who lost rings on their honeymoons, so I thought it was worth a shot :)

Re: Am I the only one???

Me too! Feeling very vitamin-D deficient these days -- trying to soak it in via the Spice Cam, but it just isn't working. I have the added misfortune (um, I mean privilege) of having 3 friends visiting STJ (separately) over the next few weeks. And I have no ticker at all right now. I'm very happy fo...

Re: Some new plans for this years trip

Oh, I just meant to bring the little bottle of sunscreen so you'd have it for the ferry (etc) before shopping -- we go through tons of sunscreen too and always buy ample amounts on our first-night provisioning run! The bug spray was the thing I recommended trying to wait for just in case the villa h...

Re: Some new plans for this years trip

I recommend packing one little 4oz tube of sunscreen in your carry-on ziploc bag just to have on hand; you can also pack a few bug towelettes -- we usually avoid buying bug spray during our first grocery run before arriving at the villa, because there's sometimes a half-full bottle left by the previ...

Re: Online medical expense donations sites?

Hi Minde, I'm so sorry to hear -- it's heartbreaking. A child in my sister's third grade class was recently diagnosed with cancer (which spread from a tumor in her hand into her lungs). The family has been so touched by the outpouring of love and support from their community...a family friend set up...

Ran across this today and thought you guys might enjoy it -- explains why some of us (me!) have a hard time spotting octopuses!

Re: Split stay between two villas?

We did exactly that a few years ago and really enjoyed it! You do lose part of the in-between 'moving' day, but if you plan carefully, it's not a big deal. It also had the effect of making our visit feel longer because of the change of scene, kind of like two vacations back to back! It's also a good...

Talk to me about Sahara dust!

Heading down for a quick 5-day trip with our niece next Thursday -- I just saw this story about a massive Sahara dust storm, which is heading for the Caribbean right now. http://www.theworld.org/2013/08/massive-saharan-dust-cloud-blows-across-atlantic/ I'm glad in some ways, because I've heard that ...

Re: Trip report: 17 more days in paradise, final

Fabulous trip report & photos, as always!! It was especially great to hear about your experience of STJ with Liam & Calli, because we're taking our 10-year-old niece to STJ for the first time next week! (And yes, she's addicted to Minecraft too, and I just don't get it either!) Maybe she'll ...
