Re: Morgan's Mango

Mixed reports from my forum friends! Hmmm...maybe I will hold off for now. We already have a bunch of reservations and plans. I might do Longboard again or that Umami place instead. One thing is for sure: I am not cooking this trip!!

Morgan's Mango

Has anyone been recently? I have not eaten there in at least five years, maybe longer. The last time we went we had a not-so-great experience, but that was a long time ago. The current menu looks pretty appealing, and I have four more dinner slots to fill in. Any feedback much appreciated!

2 hours in Charlotte Amalie

Hello forum friends, Can anyone recommend a quiet place to spend a couple of hours in CA before our ferry to STJ? I'd rather go to town and find a place to enjoy a cold drink then wait in the airport lounge for the next ferry to Caneel. There are cruise ships in on our arrival day so I am thinking t...

Re: Scary Sunscreen

I wear a full length dive skin while snorkeling. They are not expensive. I think this is the one I have: https://smile.amazon.com/NeoSport-Wetsuits-Sports-Skins-Medium/dp/B003554ETA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487775126&sr=8-3&keywords=dive+skin I also wear a buff to protect my scalp. This m...

Re: Back to St. John! Just 2 Questions, please!

Extra Virgin Bistro is excellent, BUT you say your wife has a shrimp/crab/lobster allergy. Make sure to review the menu carefully to be sure that there is something on there that she can/will eat. Many of the dishes have lobster as a component even if it is not the main focus of the dish. I dislike ...

Re: Back to St. John?

Definitely Zozo's!

We are staying within walking distance to town both in March and in July. I don't think John and I will do the "no shower happy hour" in March, but my whole crew is already looking forward to finally doing this in July based on your recommendations :D

Re: Trip Report 12/31 - 1/10... or How We Rang in the New Ye

Thanks for the great report! Sounds like you had a great time. Haulover North can be a tricky snorkel. I'd say that at least 50% of the time we drive over there we end up cancelling due to the conditions. When it is calm it is awesome though! I just finished booking my March trip yesterday except fo...

Re: Four Bed with view of St. Thomas

I have stayed at Aurora, Altagracia, and Agent99's recommendation Argonauta. I would not recommend Altagracia for your group because of the bathroom issue you mentioned. My husband and I found it less than ideal and obviously we are very close! Argonauta is great but be aware that the bedrooms are n...

Re: Villa questions

For me an owner on site is a dealbreaker. I like my privacy. However, others specifically seek out owner-occupied properties because it makes them feel safer, and I don't ever recall reading a report of on-site owners being intrusive.

Re: Packing List

Chargers for your electronics are REALLY expensive at airports. I learned the hard way. I also always bring an extension cord. That reminds me of another thing I always bring: a monster power surge protector. We plus all our chargers into it, and the laptop. There are frequent power outages and the...

Re: Sea's Edge Villa

I had not seen this villa before you posted this. It's gorgeous! I would stay there in a heartbeat. I love all the covered outdoor space. That's Klein Bay to the left of the house. Looks like you can get into the water from the house. The snorkeling is decent there. You probably know that Esperanza ...

Re: Packing List

One thing I always pack that you might not think of is blister band aids. They are really, really expensive at Chelsea Drug. I also bring a tube of A+D ointment or something similar like bodyglide for the guys for days when we are hiking into beaches so they don't get bathing suit rashes from their ...

Re: St. John 2016 - 10 days in my happy place.

I somehow missed this the first time around. I am glad it got bumped up for me to read on this snowy day! Your villa looked really nice. I stayed over in that neighborhood too, but many years ago. At first I thought on the same road, but I actually think maybe we were on the road below yours. I like...

Re: new snorkeling Book

I just wanted to post and thank you, Exit Zero, for pointing this book out. I saw your note when you originally posted it but it took a while to track down a copy. It came yesterday and I was really pleased. For those who have not seen it, the pages are thick and glossy, perhaps waterproof (not sure...
