Re: Island Dreams Villa

We stayed at island dreams villa in Coral Bay back in April this year. (Costanza Road) It was awesome for a couple. Clean, well stocked, responsive manager, & nice dipping pool for after the beach cocktails. The bedroom was on the lower level and the kitchen and family room on the top level. Alt...

Re: Sorry to bring up a very sad subject

Per the article, pesticide sulfuryl fluoride was the culprit this time. It's approved for internal use in certain states. However, one has to be properly trained and licensed. I don't claim to be an expert about that compound but I can't imagine that anyone's central nervous system would not be impa...

Considering options

We were looking into a retreat in St. Croix mid winter Jan-Feb but with all the shootings/violence we're seriously re-considering. It's unfortunate since it's one of the best snorkeling places. What's the real deal and is it worth spending 3-4K for the week to be nervous/concerned? Should we stick t...

Re: Sorry to bring up a very sad subject

Here's the article. Incredibly sad. One would think Terminex would be monitoring/auditing sub-contractors since the tragic St John incident.

Re: St John homes

thanks RickG! You're always a great resource. We are looking into this. Seems like a potential option. Why do you go until March and bugger out after? Just curious. Also, do you have to spend fees for the marina so your boat is maintained/secure?
Best,
M.

Re: St John homes

Thank you for your replies and advice. When we're ready to make the decision I will reach out. Sounds like there's much more to consider than the typical stateside purchase (which is stressful in it's own way). Also, thanks for the explanation/confirm that it's also an inventory issue and not some h...

St John homes

We've been tossing around buying a vacation home in St.John since we started visiting every year/5 years ago. The research shows A LOT of homes for sale and they don't move off the market with any speed whatsoever. Does anyone have insight as to whether or not this is a bad sign? Is it better to ren...

Re: Stinging Plankton???

all natural remedies are best. If - you get stung by sea lice or insects the meat tenderizer breaks down the proteins from the venom. Coconut oil works as a soother very well in addition. Someone said "don't use meat tenderizer is spreads the issue"... they are incorrect and not basing the...

Re: Stinging Plankton???

We were in St John last week of March/first week of April and had some experience with the 'stings'. It was mostly in the open water near Henley Cay/Scott Beach where we did a kayak/snorkel trip. The group consisted of two couples and a guide. The guide didn't experience anything and neither did my ...

Re: Where to buy fresh fish?

Fish trap is the best in my opinion. Always fresh & we've stopped for fish there every trip. This April we picked up a little of each of mahi, swordfish and grouper...delicious.. A little olive oil to coat, some st john spice rub & grilled out. They make a terrific key lime pie tart too. Tha...
