Jumper, I read a story a couple of years ago about a villa being broken into while the guests were in the pool. They left the door, which they could not see, unlocked. So we always lock the doors we can't see when we are in the pool at our villa. Just like at home, if I am in the back yard, I still ...

Does the parasailing company pick you up on St. John? If so, where? Thanks.

When leaving the airport we always stay on route 30 all the way past Havensight and the cruise ship docks. We think this is the most scenic route. We follow route 30 past Frenchman Bay and past Bolongo Bay. Take a right onto route 32 and around a sharp corner you will come across the Food Center. Ve...

Guided Reef Bay Hike

When taking the guided Reef Bay hike, how do you get on the boat that picks you up at the beach? Is there a dock or do they ferry you out in a dingy?

Re: Breakdowns?

How do the STT car rental agencies handle car problems when you are on St John? As far as I know their policy is "you're on your own." Dependable will tell you that you are on your own, however, they will give you the number and address of a mechanic who they recommend in case of a breakd...

On at least one of the car barges there is an observation deck you can go up and enjoy the ride over to the island basking in the sun. Some even have a working, albeit very, very small bathroom. When we shop before getting on the car barge, we always make sure we buy some cold beverages for the ride...

Hi Traveler: We are renting from Dependable for the second year in a row after being burned by Budget. (we sang Budget's praises many times in the past, but when they didn't deliver on a car we reserved and gave us an inferior vehicle, we changed) We call Dependable right after landing, get a rum dr...

My wife and I and our 3 kids took the ferry a couple of years ago. The ride over is a little bit slower and longer, but we got to spend more time climbing the rocks and relaxing on the beach and snorkling. We had burgers and beers(parents :D) on the beach and went up top to the restaurant for desser...

We liked Hook, Line and Sinker in French Town. Parking can be a little tight in French Town. At Point Pleasant we went to Fungi's on the beach. Your table is just feet from the water at Fungi's.

We use Omaha Steaks as well. You can count on getting a great steak everytime, very consistent and travels very well when frozen.

Great report....my wife and I plan on hitting Sam and Jack's when we get there because it sounds so good. Do you remember the hours of operation? We love sitting under the big tree eating the Grouper Reuben at Miss Lucy's. Glad they have been able to save the tree so far.

La Papaya Aug 28 to Sept 2 Part 4

La Papaya Aug 28 to Sept 2 Part 4 I’m sorry I didn’t finish this trip report sooner, I have been very busy with work and outside activities. There are not a lot of good things to write about after Hurricane Earl and not a lot of pictures, either. Tuesday morning we woke up to brightening skies and a...
