private taxi

We have used both private and regular taxi on our trips to St john. Our first trip we used Christopher and he was excellent. We were traveling with 3 other couples. The second trip, we used him again and did private water taxi. That was before they built the new ferry terminal and it was a breeze, h...

We catch the Red Hook ferry and go right to the Low key for a Dinghy rental. 1/2 day rental and we're back on the ferry by 3 to get back on the ship. We got all of the way to Francis and back and had a great day!

The owners of the place we are staying told us the water is the coolest it has been in a long time. We always come in Jan and have never been cold before and this trip we cut way back on the snorkeling b/c of the water temp and the cool wind. It's still wonderful compared to NE, but too cool to snor...

You may want to consider long sleeve. When I am cold in the water, if my arms are cold it is worse. Not to mention the tan line! haha

I debated bringing one of mine, but decided against it. I have a couple of rashguards with me for sun protection, but haven't needed one yet. I think the water has been a little cooler this trip, but I have only been staying in about an hour each time. Normally we are in for 4 + hours per day. If yo...

rashguard

A rashguard will protect you from the sun, but not really keep you warm. Get something that has neoprene, even 1mm will help. I teach swimming and I am in the water about 8 hours a day. I use a neoprene long sleeve top when I am cold. Also, I will wear a fleece workout top underneath to trap the war...

Honeymoon Cottage

My daughter got married last june and she and her husband stayed at Honeymoon Cottage, Francis Bay. They had a wonderful time. She doesn't like the steep, curvy roads, so this was rather tame in that respect. I think they paid around $1800.

Jan 25th-30th

My husband and I are trying to plan a last minute trip the 25th through 30th (of January) on St John. We have stayed in Coral Bay, Chocolate Hole and Catherineburg. Are looking for something $250 or less a night. Does anyone know of any specials out there? Thanks ahead of time!

Olympus tough series

We just returned from 9 days on St John and used our new Olympus Tough 6020. It took great pics and we had no problems with it at all. It was easier than using my Canon with the underwater housing. I can actually see the screen when shooting underwater. I am going to look at the new 8000 b/c I liked...

We have flown through CLT on USAir several times and prefer this connection to Philly. We haven't had any problems and usually can get a pretty good deal. This time we opted for a direct flight out of Boston b/c of the cost (318 r/t) 13 days and counting! :D

Just testing my ticker

Just trying out my new ticker, just figured out how to do this. Can't wait to get there. We have rented St John Livin for our trip. Have stayed in Chocolate Hole and Catherineburg and wanted to try Coral Bay. :D

We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites Isle Verde a couple of weeks ago. Very clean, quiet and close to the airport. Worked well for us. Walking distance to several restaurants and 20 minutes to old san juan.
