What did you wish someone told you for your first trip

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if those who are online could share with me what they wish someone told them before their first visit to make their stay more enjoyable or interesting? 8) Thanks for your replies in advance.

Re: Passports for kids?

Yes, I'm sorry to say. Once you leave the US Territory and enter British waters you will need a passport. I just had to renew my children's since they are under 16. Every five years and I almost forgot for an upcoming trip. It will take about 4-6 weeks for one but you can pay extra to have it done w...

Re: Who is your favorite jeep rental company?

Anyone local. I like Denzel-Cline (sp?) and St. John. Those two I have repeatedly used. We have tried others but they were either too far from the town center, or didn't have our reserved jeep even after they sent me a confirmation email. Hope that help.

Re: Lemon trees on island?

Tom, we have a pretty steep slope. I'll check where the water goes. Thanks! Exit Zero, thanks for the lock reminder. We have those in our home on the mainland and they are a must, especially when you have little kids, who like to play or drink water from the hose! Betty, I checked and we have lots o...

Re: Lemon trees on island?

wow, thanks Betty! I'm going to email our builder about the spigots! What a smart idea for anyone who wants to plant flowers or trees nearby. I'm going to print out your response for myself and put it in my big folder!

Re: any other building blogs for USVI?

www.anchorageaweigh.com is one! A reader from VIOL emailed me some questions a little while ago and I asked her if she knew any other blogs and she sent me this link. I haven't read it yet, but it will be fun to read tonight. Just a reminder to look at the dates the blog was written...sometimes the ...

any other building blogs for USVI?

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know of other building blogs besides the popular Bongo Bongo one? I enjoy reading them, and find it really helpful during this process. If you can share a link, that would be great.
Thanks!

Re: Lemon trees on island?

Wow, great information. Thanks! I'm going to find that book and maybe try to speak to those you mentioned when we get to the island next month. When we hire a landscaper, I will ask too. I'm the type to do all the research prior. I know we will have a villa manager and watering may be the biggest hu...

Re: Lemon trees on island?

Exitzero, I'd love to contact you on this endeavor of mine. I'm thinking of growing the lemon dwarf ones in big mediterranean urns for my back patio. I love the idea of growing some of the trees you have, but was concerned about maintenance, and if you have bug or iguana problems. Any guidance would...

Re: Lemon trees on island?

Hi xxjpxx9, I thought for sure someone would know about lemon trees! Since no one responded, I did some research this evening on them. They like warm, tropical climates and the best part is that iguana's don't eat citrus fruit, which was something I was worried about. I'm thinking of those dwarf lem...

Lemon trees on island?

Hi Everyone! As some of you know, we are building a villa on St. John and was hoping on planting some fruit trees. I've seen Lemon trees in containers indoors/outdoors as well as them in the ground in other tropical climates. Can anyone give me pro's and con's to having fruit trees on island? Are ce...
