Re: Thrifty Car Rental - St. Thomas - Not so Great

I rented for 15 days in March. My Equinox was not spotless but had been vacuumed and had less than 1000 miles on it. Also had a dented rear bumper but had no issues and the convenience of renting on STT thus eliminating cab fares etc is great. Did shopping before catching the ferry. I used the 800 n...

Re: Please help us pick a villa!

You might try aurora. 4 br with 2 masters and ac in bedrooms. Very close to town but private. Have stayed there several times with family and love it. Outdoor showers, large pool, decks etc. I have rented direct from the owner so save some $ that way.

Re: Quality Produce and Specialty Food on STT

Driving on STT is no big deal. Less hills and switchbacks. Traffic is also not a problem but I drive rush hour every day in Mpls. That said I would stop at Cost U Less. Not far out of Charlotte on the way to Red Hook. Kind of like a Costco but no membership. We have purchased food for much of the ne...

Re: Time for a new underwater camera

Olympus TG 3. Another in their tough line. Amazing photos comes to the beach, hunting fishing and rarely leaves my truck. Shoots video, panorama and has several special features that I have not learned to use yet. For specialty work I also have a Nikonos but the large flash attachment makes it cumbe...

Re: Villa for 2 couples, close to Cruz Bay?

Having just returned from 2 weeks in STJ and being in town every day, parking was never a problem. There was always room at the new municipal lot and it is at most a 2 block walk to Woody's. We found that a quicker choice than looking for some elusive spot or paying $3 per hour at Wharfside. Parking...

Re: need a st thomas rental car

I just rented with Thrifty and while I always double check the availability by calling they were fine and the car had less than 1000 miles. Rented for 15 days for about $850, renting a SUV. Thrifty and Budget and Dollar seem to share the same desk in a small building across from the airport. They we...

Re: Airlines (Delta) canceling flights already this week

We have friends trying to return tomorrow the 13th coming thru Atlanta from STT to MSP. Any idea if Delta gets them home or do they do as I suggested, get an extra night in STT rather than likely spend the night in ATL/ or at the airport due to the backlog?

Check with the majors, Hertz, Budget, Thrifty. Found an SUV for less than $60 per day. Could not match that on STJ.

Re: St John Car Rentals?

We have been coming to the island for about 30 years so have had a chance to rent from most of the regulars. Having said that we now rent on St Thomas. Allows us to do a grocery, beer, wine etc stop at Cost You Less on STT, catch the car ferry which runs more frequently and cost less if you have a c...
