Re: car barge advice

Which ever one of you is most confident in a potentially complicated backing up scenario should be the one in the driver's seat. It can get a little hairy sometimes and they can be very particular about where they want you to be parked, so just be sure to heed their instructions. Reservations have n...

Re: Salt pond for kids?

Those thorns are a nightmare! It had been probably 5 years or more since we'd hung out at the beach at Salt Pond, normally we just hike through there, but last summer we decide to stay awhile and I couldn't believe how bad the thorns were. I don't remember them from past years. You definitely have t...

Re: Cruz Bay to Crown Bay Ferry

There's a FB page called "St. John Car Barge Schedule" and there was a bit of discussion about it there. People said that it was cancelled by the Port Authority and that other ferry companies complained about the competition.

Re: Recent issues

Hey Anthony, this is probably unrelated to the other issues, but I still cannot use the forum from my phone. This problem started last summer. When I'm on my phone (Android, using Chrome), it won't let me stay logged in to the forum. It will tell me that I'm successfully logged in, but then it immed...

Re: Four bedroom villa

Hi Tom, long time, no see!

I always think of you and your wife when we're at Hawksnest...and whenever anybody asks if the tap water is safe to drink on STJ!

What is your budget? Do you have a preferred part of the island?

Re: 1:05 Layover in Miami?

We once had a 50 minute layover in ATL and after the experience we had, we'll never risk it again. Our flight getting into ATL was delayed so we had to run to our gate to get on the second plane. I ran ahead while my husband was behind with our two kids and as I ran up to the gate, the gate attendan...

There are many, many villa options for 2 people on the Cruz Bay side. What amenities to you want, and what's your preferred budget?

Re: Sea Waves Villa

Soul Island might work for you, and there's even a second, smaller kitchen on the lower level which would be nice since you have 5 adults. There is also a second washer and dryer set on the lower level, which was really nice. All 4 bedrooms have attached bathrooms. The upper level master bedroom at ...

Re: Sea Waves Villa

It looks like all of the bedrooms are exterior access? I have a 4 year old and a 7 year old, and villa layouts can be difficult for this reason (they've been coming with us to STJ since they were each a year old); I need their bedroom to have interior access to the main house (since we stay up later...

Does anybody know what percentage the tax will be on rum?

Also, will there be tax on alcoholic beverages at restaurants, or just stores?

Re: Polar Bear Cooler

We have checked our 48 can Polar Bear many times and it still looks brand new. That thing is built like a tank! During that same period (on the exact same trips), we've had two suitcases bite the dust. One of the suitcases was brand new and only lasted two trips. If you do just meat, you'll reach th...

Re: Is Iguana Road to LaLepinII treacherous?

I'm not sure, I may have posted on that thread? We stayed at Blue Aweigh in 2007, which is next door to Le Lapin II. The road was bumpy but it wasn't a big deal. I wouldn't call it treacherous, although it's been 10 years, so who knows. But it wasn't particularly steep, on the edge of a cliff, or sc...
