When taking ferrys to other islands from St John is it best to pay for a round trip ticket or one way and then buying another for the return trip ?

Instead of chartering some of the high price outfits on St John which we plan to do once or twice during our stay , is it possible to reach some of the beaches by rented dingy so you can explore on your own ?

Can someone recommend a dependable jeep rental on St John , we will need it for a week and would like to be able to park there during our time in town.Thanks

It sure would be nice if we could just send them all home packing in DC and start all over again. I can imagine the for-fathers are turning over in ther graves right about now , what a mess.
