Re: How to get back into an inflatable rubber dinghy

I love it! "Your head is in the way, so hold your breath and do this!" Boom! She's in. I'll have to try this some day. Or, I'd like to see someone else try it.

Re: Thoughts on a two week stay off season, one villa or two

We enjoy splitting our trips up into two pieces; makes it seem longer and offers variety. On the day you transfer from one villa to the other, make that your exploration day. Get out of the first house by 10, pack up your stuff in a cooler or two (maybe drop your bags and cooler(s) at the other vill...

Re: VRBO has initiated their new service fee

We've been completely priced out of STJ. There is simply no way we can justify the expense over so many other options around the globe.

Costa Rica

Considering a vacation in February with just the two of us...one week, needing warmth but want some adventure, too. Something completely new and different for us...we've been to STT, STJ, Mexico and St. Lucia. Costa Rica is catching my eye. Anyone been recently? Here's what we want for this vacation...

Re: New 12.5% Hotel Tax on Existing Reservations

Some management companies are currently contacting 2016 guests for an additional 2.5% payment. I've elected to taken a different approach. I won't extract another $100 from them. That's a bunch of Pain Killers at the Beach Bar or hamburgers at Skinny Legs and likely cause people to start their holi...

Ugh. Terminix, should have been on every subcontractor using their products like stink on $#it immediately after the incident in STJ. Idiots.

Re: 9:00 AM Flight Home Questions

What day of the week are you talking about? If it's a Saturday, I'd still plan on staying over in STT the night before, but that's just me. And, definitely use a porter no matter what...fabulous time saver and stress reliever!

Re: Good Summer/Beach Reads

Not sure whether this qualifies as a beach read or not, but I have Housebreaking coming. NYT review sounded good enough that I bought hard copy. I will report back after I read it. For super light and kind of funny, the Miss Fortune books are good.

STJ sticker seen in Monona WI today

Went shopping at Copps grocery store today and saw a minivan with an STJ sticker on it in the parking lot as I went in. As I perused the aisles throughout the store I kept looking for someone who might be an STJ addict, like we are. I wanted to randomly ask people but that would have been weird. Tha...

I always enjoy your thorough and informative trip reports. Thank you so very much for taking the time to share with us all! The extra days on STT were particularly interesting to read about.

Re: Help, she hates the water!!

She could also take the ferry over to STT and enjoy shopping, touring historic sites...all kinds of things! There is a TON to do on STT if STJ is not her pace.

Re: Your best St. John packing tip?

1. Those cheap "emergency rain ponchos." Great for travel days if you get caught in a deluge. 2. Rather than chip clips, just a bunch of clothes pins work well and are great for securing your towel to a beach chair, etc. 3. I second the baggies. 4. An extension cord has come in handy on ma...
