Certainly hope we do not experience your 2012 return as we are leaving this Saturday as well. Our kids left this past Saturday and had no issues. Didn't have to check bags but did need boarding passes.

A few passing showers but nothing of significance. I know the islands need it but if it can wait until we leave this Saturday (hopefully without the airport issues raised on the other thread) we are okay with that. Would not like the onslaught of mosquitoes following a good rain.

Figures...we arrive Saturday. Hopefully STJ won't get what we had in Houston on Memorial Day. I don't wish 12 inches of rain in less than 24 hours on anyone.

Perhaps by 'unsafe' they are referring to the addiction that can result if linked too closely with STJ?

We have done this our last three trips with no issues although we have done so through the same agency, Private Homes. We go for two weeks (less is just not enough and more would be really dangerous :D ) letting friends and family know the first week is open to tag along if they wish but the second ...

Every time we go. From parking lot turn right, go about 70 yards and then thirty yards out into the water. You'll be in the sea grass where they like to eat.

Have to agree with mahojim on this one as well. We have friends and family who always tells us to "bring them down next time" but we know they would quickly get bored or complain of the weather. We would end up spending the whole time trying to make sure they were enjoying themselves or se...

And history repeats itself... I believe the last fire at Mongoose was in the same relative area, starting in a similar beauty salon as mentioned in Rae Ellen Lee's book "My Next Husband Will Be Normal". The salon was more street side last time but weirdly familiar. Here's to hoping everyon...

Agree, one of the best and healthiest on the island. Getting in/out is more work but well worth it to the left. Key will be wave action and swells this time of year. We have only tried during the late spring and summer months.

Don't forget to enjoy, relax and take time to do nothing.
Listen to the trade winds, lapping water and island critters.
Watch the clouds, colors of the islands and people.
Embrace each other and what STJ offers the soul.
