Re: What do you pack in your cooler for villa meals& snack?

Cooler person here, too! We've brought everything listed above, plus crab legs - once. They were delicious, steamed on the grill. Last trip, I had the guy at my favorite Indian restaurant freeze some dishes for me, and I brought those. This time, I'm bringing Puerto Rican style rice and peas. It fre...

Re: car rental suggestions

Service like this is a possibility (from our first visit in 2009): It'll be in our trip report, but we found Conrad to be generally contentious, like he's looking for a fight, and then he'd "let it fly...." so he could pat himself on the back and tell himself what a good guy he was. We are...

Re: Estate Fortsberg vs Flanders vs Alice by the Sea

I took a look at the villas mentioned, and have only had the (extreme pleasure!!!) of staying at one of them.... Alice By the Sea. The thing that stood out to me immediately about Estate Fortsberg is the wide open doors with no apparent screens. That would immediately disqualify that for me. Flander...

Re: we made it

Blaine thinks I'm a bit crazy for accepting the invitation to stay with a friend I'd only spent a couple of days with, and for being so excited to finally meet Papabou, his lovely Ann, and the girls. So call me crazy! It was a fabulous trip with so many firsts for me as well, and I expect to write u...

Re: short but we hope sweet

I get to meet you soon! So excited for your big trip, and can't wait to meet you in person! I don't post as much here, because it's a pain to log in. Isn't that silly? It's true, though. On TA you can stay logged in. Love this forum, though, and am so grateful for all the information I've gleaned an...

Re: A View to the West

Love these shots - especially the one that was labelled! I know there's an phone app that you can point into the sky and it'll tell you what you're looking at. There's probably a market for an app that would do that for islands in the distance on STJ....hint hint

Re: Trip report Beaufort, SC to Beaufort, NC

Beautiful pics! Just eyeballing the links, the Inn at Beaufort SC looks like the loveliest, most relaxing place - somehow, that view just draws me. Glad to hear you had a great trip, and can't wait to hear ALL the details over "lunch!"

Re: Suggestions for Something Different?

Chrisn - we thoroughly enjoyed a day that we booked with Pam Gaffin. That was one fun extra did we did once. We've also rented kayaks and gone to Whistling Cay, snorkeled the mangroves at Princess bay, gone out with Busy Bee charters on a lap around STJ, did the guided Reef bay hike, hiked and spent...

Re: Flander's Villa, Alice By the Sea, Casa YaYa, or Bo Atab

We visited Alice by the Sea last month. It was afternoon, and I recall looking for the shady side of the pool because I was a little bit burnt. It is SO LOVELY, with more comfort than I could ever ask for, and if I was looking for a rental for more than one couple, I wouldn't even look around. It'd ...

Re: Where have you stayed?

We're the type who prefer budget accomodations: Cinnamon Bay cottage - our first trip. We're campers and didn't mind it at all, though I had no idea what we were missing with the lack of view. The proximity of the beach made up for it, though! Cruz Views #1, 2, 3 and 8. We do like meeting other visi...
