This is definitely a pet peeve of mine as well; especially those that have two-way radio/cells. Then your forced to hear both ends of the conversation. And why is it the more inane the conversation the louder they speak? My beach tatic? I'm an early riser, I get out, enjoy the early day beach, leave ...

Wow, I went back and read the posts more carefully and see where you describe the affluence of your friends. Why is it that the people with the most money are generally the cheapest as well? I am sure if you put your minds to it you can find a fair way to share or split that doesn't involve asking t...

I have to say the taking turns route really is best. My family owned restaurants growing up and splitting checks, even if you ask before hand is really not fun. First of all, if you are paying by credit card, you have to realize that the business you are purchasing from has to pay for each of those ...

Great trip report and pics. Thank you for sharing! Terry is the manager of the villa we rent as well, I've heard great things about her, but we always visit during her vacation. Hopefully we'll meet her this July.

Pete, I did say legality aside in my post. I think you can agree that there are many many laws that are not enforced that people break constantly. In fact I'm sure everyone on this forum has broken a law (e.g. spitting on the sidewalk in Singapore, smoking less than 30 feet from a building entrance,...

I'm very uncomfortable being around nude people in public and it was disappointing to my husband and me when we made the trek to Solomon a few years ago and were enjoying ourselves until a bunch of naked Europeans showed up (I'm not generalizing, they were actually European) to prance around and sh...

Sorry Parafins, I have to agree with the others. Live and let live I say. If I didn't want to see his naked body I just wouldn't look at it.

Old San Juan is full of other tourist. Most of them wearing shorts, t's, and tennis shoes. If you would like to eat at a nicer resturant and your checking luggage anyway, then I would go ahead and throw in something a bit more dressy. I have the great fortune of having Puerto Rican friends/family th...

Thanks for the trip report B&J and thanks for the suggestion on where to go Parafins. We are staying above francis/maho so we are going to definitely try there, and I think the night snorkel that Maho camp ground offers sounds fun too. I just can't wait.

We've always enjoyed Jumbie as well. I concur with the thoughts on weather and direction. Last year we were able to travel quite a distance going to the left even saw a small octapus. If you go really far to the left you can pull up on a small very rocky beach, it's a needed resting point for that d...
