Re: Belize?

We also went about 10 years ago. We went to San Pedro and intended to do some caving but my wife had a sudden back problem. If you are into caving the reviews say that it is very good in Belize. There are also some excellent Mayan ruins in western Belize that were fun to visit. We stayed in a hotel o...

Re: be aware of your surroundings

To me these are shocking incidents. We started going to St John in 1983 and our last visit was in 2013. Crime of any sort was negligible for years. Some murders in recent years were also shocking. This this type of crime sounds more like something that would happen in a large American city and usual...

Re: First time traveling with an 18 month old!

When we went with our daughters ages 1 and 3 we started at Cinammon Bay which solves a lot of problems. You are at the beach, you can relax and look at the view while they nap and the restaurant is right there as is the beach, no traveling necessary. If camping is not for you then our experience 30 y...

Re: Delaware Family Poisoned at Sirenusa!

This story is on CNN news this morning and and the website. The Justice Department has started a criminal investigation and the family is still hospitalized in Philadelphia. The two children are still in critical condition. Hopefully, everyone will recover.

Re: A Long Air Travel Rant

I feel your pain Bill. AA can be very unreliable also. I flew with them from Hartford to grand cayman last January and originally booked a 6 P M. Flight so that we would not miss our day care for the grandkids "job." They switched the flight to 6 A. M. It was a Friday so I am sure there we...

Re: Trip with two 4-6 month olds (twins)

Funny you should ask- my daughter has a four year old and one year old twins-all boys. I think the answer depends on how active the twins are and how well they are sleeping. We started taking my daughter and her sister to Cinammon Bay at ages 1 and 3. It worked out great for many years. They slept t...

Re: Help us choose a week

I think that you picked a good week- in case you decide to return the following year at about the same time remember that President's Week can be the last week in February and several states in the Northeast have that as a school vacation week and St. John can get very crowded that week. College spr...

Re: Grande Bay parking ???

There is a large free public parking lot where the car ferry comes in. It is probably a five minute walk to Grande Bay.

Re: Home Away payments - VRBO

If the trip insurance is owned by Home Away it might not be a good idea. I read in Consumer Reports years ago that it is better to buy the insurance through an independent company. We always use Travel Guard but if you google trip insurance there is a web site that compares a number of companies.

Re: Where have all the donkeys gone?

Last Feb we didn't see any until our third trip to Coral Bay- maybe they have decided to hang out on the quiet side of St John but we were wondering if the authorities were taking steps to limit the donkey population.

Re: Advice on Tree House Mamey Peak

I have never been to Tree House but had friends whop rented on Mamey Peak in Feb and said they did not need air conditioning- very cool at night. However, if you think you want to go out at night to restaurants the drive too Cruz Bay or Coral Bay could be daunting at night.
