Re: Any info. on Southern Cross Villa

Lovely villa, stayed there twice. However, that was before the Pond Bay development. I would be concerned about what that unfinished construction site looks like.

Re: Upside down boat in Leinster Bay

Scary. I'd like to think whatever limited resources there are due to furloughs would focus on this more than kicking people off the beaches. Please keep us posted.

Re: Banned beach of the day

What exactly did the ranger say to you? Did he indicate that if you didn't leave he would give you a ticket with some sort of fine? Very curious. I was hoping that maybe they just had to go through the motions but would not actually do anything.

Citation for being on the beach

What exactly does getting a citation for being on the beach mean? Is it a warning? Is there a penalty?
Thanks

Re: Denis Bay mess makes NY Daily news

I wonder if someone from the Rockefeller family made a call to the appropriate person at the National Park Service re this incursion into the VINP if that would have some impact. Just in case anyone is not aware Laurence Rockefeller donated a great deal of the land for the VINP on St. John. What wou...

Re: Restaurant for special occasion

Turtle Bay Estate was our first choice but unfortunately it is not open in July. Am I hearing a very polite slight hint that the food is not great at the Sugar Mill? You can pm if you prefer. Thanks so much. Your fabulous trip reports had a lot to do with our decision. We were so close to booking So...

Re: Restaurant for special occasion

Thanks everybody. We have taken ChipN's suggestion and have made a reservation at the Sugar Mill (formerly the Equator) at Caneel. We will be staying there so it's very convenient. Have always rented a villa but didn't want to lift a finger on this trip. Will be a very different experience. Thanks a...

Any suggestions other than Asolare, The Terrace or Zozos for a special occasion dinner?
Thanks.

Re: Gate by the Westin blocking access to Virgin Grand homes

Thanks for the replies. I was pretty much aware of most of this info but the reason I asked the question was that a couple of years ago we met a family on the beach who were staying in one of the original houses in VGE and they had been given a combination to the gate for their use. I was just wonde...

Re: Gate by the Westin blocking access to Virgin Grand homes

I certainly understand no one would want it to become a short cut but I was just wondering if you had a house booked there could you, or ,ore ;ikely your rental company, be given the combination.

Gate by the Westin blocking access to Virgin Grand homes

Many years ago on our first trip to St John we stayed in one of the only two-three houses in what was called Virgin Grande and going up that road at the Westin was the only way to get to it. I know times have certainly changed dramatically in that area and now apparently you have to go all the way u...
