Re: Is Iguana Road to LaLepinII treacherous?

I hope someone who stayed at Le Lapin II recently will chime in. Our stay was over 10 years ago so I can't help you with the current condition of Iguana Rd. I remember after the greeter led us to the villa, she told us in an amusing tone that she'd had some guests who freaked out about the road and ...

Re: Time from airport to to Red Hook

Rachel would accommodate one person but I think it would cost you a lot more than taking a regular taxi. For two people, her rate is $25 per person - but for one person, it might be around $40 or $50 (?). I'm not sure of the exact rate so, if you are really interested, you can call/text her and inqu...

Re: Best Lunch in Coral Bay?

Our favorite lunch spots in Coral Bay are (probably in this order) : Miss Lucy's - My husband loves their Grouper Reuben and I always order Callaloo soup with crabmeat. https://c1.staticflickr.com/8/7505/29729190355_45d14ae38c_n.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8826/29693795826_e623158de4_n.jpg htt...

Re: Maho a Maho

Beautiful plant, Kevin. I'm so curious about underwater life that I pay less attention to the flora of the island, which is my flaw. Thank you for your post and making me aware of them.

Re: VRBO #296551-- Rendezvous Villa Review

I'm sorry to hear about your stay at Villa Rendezvous. It is where we stayed on our very first trip to St. John almost 15 years ago. Back then it was more casual and affordable - and we have fond memories of staying there. I don't know if the house was sold at one point but it went through quite a b...

Very much enjoyed your blog! It made me miss St. John quite a bit... Wish we had a trip back to the island planned.

Re: Long Trip Report October 11-20, 2016

Very much enjoyed your detailed trip report - big thanks to your wife! I second liamsaunt - you packed a lot of stuff in. I've always been impressed with the folks who can snorkel two or three spots in one day. We are lazy and rarely snorkel more than one spot (hardly ever even beach hop). We love w...

Re: Trip Report 9.24 - 10.5

Looks like you had a much needed relaxing vacation. 10 days used to be our magic number but it has turned into 14 days (at least). We haven't been back to Trunk for a while now. It was the first and the most crowded beach we visited 15 years ago on our very first trip and we haven't frequented there...

Re: photo and camera tips

I love taking underwater photos but it can be challenging. As you know, the quality of shots is affected by the conditions underwater (visibility, light, currents, etc.). To me, the brightest sun doesn't mean I get the best shots. I personally like taking underwater photos when the sun is behind the...

Re: Pic's Pics & Report - August 2016

Is the weather much different between June and August? We preferred the Coral Bay side also. It seemed warm to us in Cruz Bay on our June trip. Are there still breezes in August? I would love to plan a trip next summer, and first or second week in August works out the best. To us regular June visit...

Some of your videos - I almost need Bonine to watch. I don't know what it's like to own a boat and sail for weeks (it might not be for a wimp like me). It's refreshing to see the sea and the islands from the boat and from your perspective. Thank you!

Re: Pic's Pics & Report - August 2016

Funny, the only place we have ever seen True Tulips are in Francis Bay on our way out towards Mary Point (and only on a couple of occasions)..... nice pic next to the octopus (a.k.a. lunch!). I've come across more octopuses munching on True Tulips in Francis than anywhere else. :) Maho is a distant...

Pic's Pics & Report - August 2016

We vacationed for two weeks on St. John this past May/June - for that we had pretty much given up on our annual visit to my home country, Japan, this year. We just spent one week on St. John in August - for that we completely gave up on my homecoming and our plan to replace my outdated Mac (Apple is...

I visit here daily except when I'm traveling. I'm not as old an oldie as some of you are and didn't know the forum in the 90's. I've met great folks virtually as well as in person through this forum and for that I am very, very grateful. I miss all the trip reports, by newbies, oldies or whoever, th...
