Re: What's new in 2017?
I was initially a bit confused by your post when you referred to "the Rock". St. Thomas is know as Rock City. St. John is Love City. Additional new things on Love City also include The Dog House Pub (formerly Castaways), Umami (formerly Sush!), Full Moon dinners at Mathayam (Windy Level), ...

Re: Peter Bay Next month, suggestions
Aqua Girl. Unfortunately, the shimmering you mention is the sunscreen. A recent study at Trunk and at a beach in Hawaii indicated high concentration of sunscreens in the water. It you must you sunscreen, check the ingredient list to be sure it DOES NOT contain oxibenzone which kills the coral and ha...

As good as ever. Depends on your location.
If you are here doing high season, expect call drops because the system is overloaded.

Scary Sunscreen
Something to consider when purchasing sunscreen for your St. John trip. We already know that Oxybenzone is killing the coral. This article talks about how harmful it is to humans. This stuff is scary. http://www.collective-evolution.com/2017/02/13/how-sunscreen-could-be-causing-skin-cancer-not-the-s...

Car Barge Schedules
Since things have been so chaotic with the car barges, a new Facebook page has been created. It is called "St. John Car Barge Schedule". It is new and will require input from car barge users to be successful. We recently cancelled a trip to St. Thomas based on info on this page. You may fi...

RE: Barges
My friend just waited for 2.5 hours to board a barge on St. John. The General (the largest currently running) is being worked on at the dock.
Barge status is day by day.

Re: Car Ferry Update
The car ferry situation is iffy. The largest ferry, Mr. B, was seized for non payment of debt a year ago and still sits idle at the dock on St. John. Only three ferrries have been running since then. They are all much smaller and they have been unreliable with many maintenance issues. My recommendat...

Don't forget long pants and long sleeve shirt or light jacket. Better for mosquito avoidance than poison.

Re: Drones and glass bottles
Drones are not the only thing illegal on park beaches. So are glass bottles. Report violations to the Park Rangers. They are short staffed and could you a little help with enforcement.

Hopefully they will create a new "amphitheatre" I have never been to a Nat'l Park Campground that did not have a "amphitheatre" to hold presentations for campers.

Yesterday, 12/27, reported wait in Red Hook 2.5 hours from 3:30 to 6. In line for the 4 pm, the 5 pm, and made it onto the 6 pm
Someone this morning reported that the Capt Vic left the dock empty. ????
The car barge situation is still messed up.
