Re: Must have food on STJ
I forgot Fish Trap's fish chowder, full of fish chunks and shellfish! Ask for Naz sauce---housemade hot sauce named after a former East Indian employee.

Re: All of St. John just lost power
About two hours w/o power-not bad for the islands. WAPA is really much more reliable than in the day-power might be off for days.
Of course WAPA did loss power last year for the Super Bowl!
It was interesting to see the houses with generators or a solar powered light.

Re: De Coal Pot
We too love the takeout from Miss Etta's-I tell her it is almost as good as when she cooked West Indian night at Tamarind. She always, if you get there early enough, has conch paties. Her paties have a good amount of curry, but overall we like Hercules better. Don't dismiss De Coal Pot as second str...

Re: De Coal Pot
We have been there twice. The food is very good and I think it is the only place on the island that you can get whelk. We have had the conch, the whelk, and the goat-all of which were very good. Sides were good and plentiful. The space is loud and claustrophobic when crowded, but it is air condition...

Little St. James
Does anyone know what the structure at the top of Little St. James is? It looks like a big round silo with a gold dome top. Observatory?

Re: Does anyone know what villa this is?
Wings over Water is not on a cliff, in fact, your tub is about 30 feet above the water. Anyone who remembers Nautilus would not recognize it now with gated stone wall and Peter Bay size mega villa being built. The previous building, dwarfed by the construction looks like it will be a tear done. They...

It is perfect for a Dark and Stormy. Lately homemade ginger syrup is being used instead of ginger beer.
