Re: Flight purchases - 330 day rule?
I have never found the best rates for travel at 330 days. Rates vary throughout the year and generally start out higher than they will be later. On the other hand FF flyers to the Caribbean must know the 330 day rule and be flexible as the airlines don't always stick to exactly 330 days. FF users ma...

Re: Need park & fly Chicago O'hare
We have left the car in hotel lots and stayed overnight for the early flights out, but found the early morning shuttles to be quite unreliable-packed with airplane personnel as well as passengers.
We now just take a limo both ways which, for us, is less expensive than the parking.

Re: Car rental for 20 days
Since you are renting for 20 days, many places will try (or only allow you) to rent for 2 weeks and six days. Try to get a daily rate from the weekly rate (divide it by 7) and apply it for your number of days. Surprisingly almost no one will understand that and will think that you are trying to chea...

Sapphire Breeze is one of my favorite villas. There are no photos of the downstairs bathroom. Is it still beautifully bizarre?

Re: Sopra Mare Villa & Bordo Mare Villa
If that photo is mid-December, the sun is close to its most southerly setting point. As the sun sets more and more to the north, I guess they have another month before the sunset point is behind Maria's Bluff. Nonetheless that would mean great sunsets Nov., Dec., and Jan. The owner should be able to...

Does the sun set over water (or Little St. James) at either villa? During what months?

Re: Villa Help - sunsets!
Not only does Sol Inclination have great sunsets between about October 15 and February 15, the hot tub may have spoiled me forever for the night sky in STJ, but maybe that's a different thread.

Are there two or three bedrooms in the lower portion of Sol Inclination? Two, me thinks.

Re: Villa Help - sunsets!
You need to be careful about sunset views as they change during the year. Sol Inclination has great sunsets mid winter, but around mid-February the sun sets behind Gifft Hill, not exactly the sunset over water that I want. So about 60 days before and after Dec. 21, you get sunsets over water (or dis...

Wings over Water is located at the point of Bovocaop Point between Chocolate Hole and Fish Bay. The ambient light from STT cuts down a little on the western sky and the hill behind the house on the northern sky (can't see the Big Dipper), but still a magnificent view especially south-Canopus becomes...

Re: Survey: power outages during your stay(s)?
We stayed for a month during January and February this year and lost power only one evening for a few hours. Last year in the same time frame we lost power only for a portion of the Super Bowl, a couple hours also. It is entertaining to see the villas with generators pop on on an otherwise dark isla...

While I am very pleased that SEG has been dealt another blow, what on earth is the Fish and Wildlife Services doing granting money to marina developers?

What a shame that there were several scenes not from St. John in the broadcast! How lazy!
