Re: High season advice for babymoon!
Congratulations! We leave soon for our babymoon on St. John, and I'm so excited. I book trip insurance through Trip Insurance Store because they have good customer service and offer a few companies' policies. I've also used insure my Trip. Both are online companies. It's important to book your polic...

Re: Gluten Free Food
Thank you--this is very helpful. I know my family is hoping to eat most dinners out and I was worried that wasn't going to work for me. Getting glutened with Celiac or gluten intolerance is never good, but it's even worse on vacation!

Re: Please help: Afraid I might have to use trip ins
I think the insurance is always worth it for peace of mind and the unexpected. You do have to insure the entire prepaid cost of your trip, or the policy probably won't cover pre-existing conditions, so ask the rep about that. You might not be able to only insure the villa if you paid oop for flights...

Re: Another WOW time on St. John Trip Report
Thanks for the awesome trip report! How far in advance did you send your boxes to Connections? I'm thinking of sending a box, but our trip is in 4 weeks, so I'm not sure if it's too late.

Gluten Free Food
Hello, Our trip is getting closer, and I am looking for restaurants on St John that serve gluten free food or have chefs that will carefully accommodate special food needs so that I can start contacting these restaurants in advance of our trip. It always helps to hear from others who have eaten glut...

Re: High season advice for babymoon!
We are hoping to travel for a babymoon in Dec, for a trip we planned before I was pregnant. My advice is to buy trip insurance that includes cancel for any reason coverage the same day you book your trip. That way, if some thing unexpected comes up with your pregnancy right before travel, you will b...

We are hoping to find someone who can take our family photos/maternity photo on the beach during our trip in mid-December. We hardly ever remember to take photos ourselves and just have a point and shoot camera, so we are just looking for a few keepsake photos. We will use them for our holiday/New Y...

Favorite Gear and Island Supplies?
It's time to start ordering a few things for our Dec trip so we have time to exchange sizes if needed. I'm looking for suggestions as to your favorite sources and brands for rash guards/snorkel shirts, snorkel gear, float belts, and hiking sandals/water shoes. I'm not sure if all 4 of us will buy sn...

Re: Babymoon?
I wanted to share what I have found in case it is helpful to others searching this topic. I had my second doctor's appointment last week and she said traveling at 31 weeks is fine as long as everything is progressing well. She did say, though, that she recommended against traveling to a destination ...

Re: Looking for Villa in Oct--2 Couples
Okay, verdict is in. My family couldn't sync our Oct schedules and I didn't think trip insurance would over cancellation for this situation, so we are keeping Bongo Bongo in Dec. My parents will go for sure and my husband and I will decide later based on how the pregnancy is going. The reason my doc...

Re: Looking for Villa in Oct--2 Couples
I'm feeling a little more optimistic since reading everyone's suggestions. Hopefully my family can get our Oct schedules coordinated and make it work. We are trying to keep the villa rental at $3500 or less for the week, especially because I think our new airline tickets will be more expensive than ...

Re: Looking for Villa in Oct--2 Couples
Thanks for the help! We are open to most areas. We were looking at Cruz Bay since it is our first visit, but we're not stuck on that. I'm having so much trouble coordinating everyone's schedules today that I'm thinking it may not work to reschedule. My parents might have to go to Bongo Bongo in Dec,...

Looking for Villa in Oct--2 Couples
We are trying to decide whether to reschedule our Dec. trip because my doctor advised I not travel to St John after 24 weeks of pregnancy given my particular situation. SO, either my parents will go on the Dec. trip by themselves and leave it as planned, or we will change things and all go together ...

Re: Babymoon?
Thanks. I will also have to check my travel insurance policy to find out whether being 8 weeks within my due date would invalidate it should an emergency occur. As I type all this, Im thinking it may just be one month too far into the pregnancy to be comfortable, both physically and for ease of mind...

Re: Babymoon?
Thank you. So far my doctor has said it is okay if everything is healthy and on schedule at that time. But, of course, that is a long way away, so if there is any reason for concern at all, we won't go. Once we discuss it with my family, we may decide it's better to postpone the trip just in case. I...
