Re: should i rent a jeep for everyday in st. john

disregard "Budget is one that has good prices". Do your research, they have good prices, but when you go to get your jeep they will not have any vehicles. Your budget reservation with good price means nothing.

Re: Westin Ferry vs. VI Ferry?

no benefit to the Westin ferry unless you plan to go back and forth several times between St Thomas and St John (I believe the Westin ferry cost includes unlimited trips during your stay), but who would want to do that? For me public taxi was a breeze. We did make one stop on the way at a resort on ...

Re: Top 3 Snorkel Spots

By far, Haulover North was the best snorkeling on my trip if you are looking for water clarity, coral / fish abundance. Others I snorkeled and compared it to are Haulover S, Hawksnest, Salt Pond, Leinster / Waterlemon, Salt Pond, Maho, Cinnamon Bay, Trunk Bay, and the public beach next to Vie's.

Re: L&L Jeep Rental

I've stated before, my research tells me if renting on St John, go to St John Car Rental or Courtesy. All of the others have way to many service complaints on forums. Very very few to none for these two companies. I used sj car rental this month with zero issues.

Re: Spirit Air

flew on Spirit for my trip last week. No issues, no surprises. Go into knowing that 1) you should bring food and buy a drink after security or plan to purchase something on board if you are hungry / thirsty, 2) there are no movies or TVs, 3) look into checked baggage and/or carryon fees before you p...

Re: first timers trip 4/9 - 4/14

I'm not sure if you get the boot, but the sign said (and she mentioned) her gate leading to the beach locks at 4 or 4:30 (can't recall exactly). We assumed we would either get the boot or were not wanted there after hours and drove 100 yards up the road to the adjacent spot.

first timers trip 4/9 - 4/14

Got back from a 5 night stay at the Westin on St John last night. The room seemed as if it had been upgraded somewhat recently, though showed some minor age and or neglect that did not bother us; we were happy with the room after having read more than a few reviews from what seem like overly picky r...

Re: Quick Pics - Day five

not 100% sure, but those yellowtail snapper look more like goatfish to me. Goatifsh look like yellowtail but have barbells on their bottom lips and hang around the bottom -- they use the barbells to poke around in the sand and search out critters.

Re: weather conditions / snorkeling

correct to assume lack of responses is due to a dumb question? 15-20 knots in my neck of the woods = dangerous conditions....is that not the case on St John?

weather conditions / snorkeling

When it is blowing 15-20mph out of the ENE, how does that affect snorkeling? Are there places to avoid in those conditions....if so, which ones? First trip is fast approaching and that is the weather report for our first couple days on island. Thanks.

Re: St John car rental

In my case I submitted the request via email, never heard back. Called, a few days later and was told it would take up to a week to hear back. 10 days later hadn't heard back. Emailed requesting response as I had other quotes. Received email appology for having been told it is normal to take a week ...

When booking they told me they do not need a deposit or my cc #. I also was never asked to fill out any forms. All communication was via email. Should I be worried?
